First of all, a little bit of introduction. I've been playing for for around 11 years and have always like Leo Fender's designs. In Ireland guitars tend to be a lot more expensive than they would be in North America due to importation costs, more middle men in distribution, customs duty and the like. A couple of years ago I went over to New York to visit a friend and decided that while I was there I would buy myself a guitar.
While I was in Manny's and the shops around it I tried out a lot of different guitars. I'd been posting on a few different guitar related fora and had heard of G&L but never actually seen one as they're relatively rare in Ireland and was hoping to try one. In As luck would have it there was a OLP Legacy on the wall by the door and I was very impressed when I tried it. Unfortunately, it was a little bit over my budget and I eventually settled on a Fender Robert Cray Signature Strat, which had also impressed me.
A couple of years later I sold the RC Strat and finally decided to take a risk and order myself a new G&L Legacy from the States. After a lot time deliberating I decided to take a risk and buy one that was in stock on an ebay store, at a fantastic sale price. A couple of weeks later it arrived and even after paying tax on it it worked out quite a bit cheaper than an American Series Strat would have cost me in Ireland or even one of the larger superstores on the continent.
Even ordering an unseen, unplayed guitar I was relatively confident that I'd like what they sent me. What I got was beyond my expectations. It's a relatively modest Legacy with a standard C neck and 12" radius in Himalayan Blue. It's very resonant, under 8lbs and has the first maple fretboard that I've ever felt totally comfortable with. The 12" radius is probably my favourite feature. I never use the trem as the little screw that presses against the nylon insert disappeared in transit and I have yet to work out how to get another of that type. I'm not much of a trem user anyway. The case is also great - it smells of sweets.

It has a little birthmark.
I hope the pics are ok - sizing them is a little time consuming. It's a bit late so I'll post pics of my second G&L tomorrow. That way we'll all have something to look forward to. You can catch a sneak peek in my avatar.
