Has anyone used a 2Tek bridge in their G&L?
I wonder if G&L would consider offering the 2Tek from the factory?

Re: 2Tek
since it goes against leo's ideas, meaning to lock the saddles together for better results, and it is heavy and really bulky looking, i am not expecting g&l to offer these. also, since there is still a plate on the bottom that connects it all, am not sure if the benefits claimed are realized any more than a traditional strat bridge with the saddles not touching. i am also not convinced that their theory is correct as far as sound production of a guitar goes.

Re: 2Tek
An acquaintance had a PRS McCarty (P90's). Wonderful guitar - sustain and tone that I admired. He got this bug (based on reading in a forum) to have the 2Tek installed. "Who, wait a minute! The PRS bridge was designed to increase sustain, get the vibes to the wood - you're crazy to change it" (we said). Just put new strings on her. He did it anyway.
Now, this is ONLY ONE I've heard - and it isn't any more than an example of ONE (not a good sampling, I know), but H.F.S. this guit SUSTAINS!!! I have to attribute it to the 2Tek (well made piece of equipment imo) - as everything else was the same - same guitar, amp, cable, room, etc. (ok, but new strings). So, I think it made a difference. I also think that G&L's ASAT bridge makes a difference, as opposed to a production fender bridge, - but I don't have good scientific evidence for that one either. (Some of it - with the 2Tek AND my admiration for G&L's - is wow factor. ) I'm just saying....

Makes me so sad that he cannot play the PRS anymore. It's beefy tone worked for HIland IMO. I think Hiland found a guitar he does not sound good on. His Musicman sounds like a toy compared to his PRS. It just does not sound like a grownup guitar. I have yet find anything with him on the Musicman that I can listen all the way through to the end. It is just awful.louis cyfer wrote:hilland makes anything sound good, but he now plays music man.

These sound effects are better than the tone he is getting currently.
