Well first you approach its owner, and declare noble intentions to borrowing their guitar for a while, have a nice dinner, and then return it. It should pick up from there.
On a more serious note you remove the neck and there should be a date on the body and neck pocket. No other way to tell for sure so man up or live in curiousity.
Yeah, maybe one day I'll "man up" and take the neck off. But for now I refuse to screw up the plek setup and intonation. I'm waaay to happy with the current set up to abate my curiosity for now.

hey no worries about setup & intonation going awry...I remove about 3 necks a week on strat type guitars. The only way to screw up intonation is playing with the bridge screws. The plek sizes up the frets, which won't move around Just work the neck out slowly, as G&Ls have pretty tight neck pockets. A thin wipe of Vaseline will help getting it back in if its REALLY tight.
