First, let me me thank everyone for being so welcoming. I appreciate all the kind words about the guitar and the information.
I've been through about 10 or so telecaster guitars over the past few years. I had almost given up on teles but wanted to give it one more try since this beauty caught my eye. I'm really glad I did! It's not too often that you find a purple guitar that looks like this one! I feel very lucky having gotten this one, especially for the less than $700 I paid with the OHSC. Still playing with the MFDs but they seem like very unique pickups.
I think I've found that what I never really dug about previous teles was the belly cut. This one doesn't have one and it's much more comfortable. Also, the neck is more substantial on this one, unlike many toothpick fenders I've played. I'm really happy with the purchase and am looking forward to bonding with the guitar. I'll likely throw some sperzels on it since I am the world's worst string winder.
Finally, I'm 99.999% sure it's a "B"

I looked at it under bright light, a flash light, a black light, got the wife involved and even took a partial etching with some paper I had around. However, as blarg wisely points out, it's definitely a guitar and not a bass
