Please identify this guitar for me G&L Legacy USA?

Post by pplwu »

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and I have an G&L legacy which was given to me. I am trying to find out more information about this guitar but I am not sure I've got it right..

The serial number is CLF46516 and it is of a creamy white colour however after reading the register in this forum I don't think this is a blondie because it doesn't have an signature at the back of the headstock. Having looking through the current G&L product I can't seem to find this exact one with the same colour. Here are some pictures:

Any help with identifying this beauty is appreciated!

Thanks

Welcome to G&LDP. It looks like Vintage White to me. Blonde is a translucent finish, which you can see the wood grain through.

The body color is Vintage White. Blonde is a transparent finish and you will be able to see the Swamp Ash wood grain.

For examples of Vintage White see: Examples of Standard Finishes ....

Please do add your Legacy to our G&L Registry.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again for your input guys, so I have tried to register my guitar here with serial number CLF46516. As a newbie to guitar, actually guitars, would you be able to identify the following from the serial number?

Neck Date, Body Date, Fretboard wood (I think it is maple), and bridge?

When was this made?

Thanks in advance.

Not yet.

In the meantime, I can answer some of your questions.

First, here is an inline photo of your Legacy:

It is a standard production G&L Legacy made at the Fullerton, CA factory. There was a Legacy Standard which was part of the Fullerton Standard Series built in 2006-2008.
See this post for details on the Legacy Standard: http://guitarsbyleo.com/FORUM/viewtopic ... 391#p20391.

The neck is hard rock Maple and the fretboard wood is Rosewood. The neck is likely the #1 (1 5/8" nut width; 12" fretboard radius). The back of the neck and front of headstock has a satin polyurethane finish.
There were neck size options available, see: What are the USA neck size options, past and present?
The bridge is the Dual-Fulcrum Vibrato bridge.

My best guess (based upon the serial number) is that your guitar was built in 2007 or 2008.

If I don't hear from my contact by days end, I will send a followup email to him.

Hope this helps.

Just heard back from Dave:
Hi Craig,

CLF46516 is a Legacy Vintage White, rosewood board, 3-ply crème guard, crème covers and knobs shipped on June 11, 2007 to F. Payton & Son in Australia.

Thanks, Craig.

Dave
Hope this helps.
