Nice looking S-500!

I just added this diagram to the knowledgebase post, What is the expander switch used on many of the models?:

Hope this helps.

Never mind, just found half of my answer in the "Gallery" section. However, now I have another question: Since position 1 Expanded and position 5 Expanded are neck and bridge pickups together, is one position weird in series while the other is wired in parallel? I ask because these two positions are DEFINITELY sounding different (in a great way, might I add).

I've never heard that the Position 1 Expanded and Position 5 Expanded were wired differently, and on my S-500 I think they sound the same. Super cool for you though if you ended up with more sound options.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else on the board has an S-500 that does what yours does.

My 2013 S500 does not sound any different in the #1 and #5 expanded positions.

Unless they've changed something 1&5 are the same.

I put S-500 wiring on my Tribute Legacy but with a push pull... I am a big fan of position 1/5... I did that on my last partscaster build as well...

Yup, love the expanded position on my Tribute Comanche, too. Positions 1 and 5 sound different to me, too, when they're expanded, but it's subtle. As bloodied fingers said, based on the circuit diagram there should be no difference, so maybe I just think I'm listening with "golden ears" :D
