How important is the "paperwork" or case candy with this (or any used G&L for that matter)?
I wouldn't be buying this as a flip guitar but still being relatively new to the G&L world, I always see and hear people asking if the paperwork is included.
For the record, this one has no papers or case candy.

Doesn't really matter to me, its not the sort of thing everyone would keep. IMO they don't do much towards verifying the legitimacy of an instrument. Still, if you can use this as a way to haggle them down another $50 it might be worth mentioningBluesboy wrote:How important is the "paperwork" or case candy with this (or any used G&L for that matter)?

And I would have bought that as soon as I saw it too!

you can still get a certificate for Authentice (sp?) from G & L ...... it looks authentic to me , get it before he raises the price and worry about the case candy later

I'm working on things now, I'm also not certain if it has the case (I believe it does).
Shop is closed tonight so all I can do is stew, LOL.
Let me ask you this - is there anything different about a GF Signature model and a Legacy? I understand it's a soft V vs a #1 profile and maybe the switching is different?
I did just buy this so I may get George and decide between the two.

That Graphite Metallic Legacy is gorgeous. So is the Fullerton Red in addition to being a GF Signature. They will feel different. They may even sound a little different. I had an older ASAT Classic and those pickups sounded sort of used or tired in a good way compared to my newer Classic. Keep both.

I would buy it for that price.
If I ever see one in the wild it would take a lot for me not to bring it home.

Re: Price check please - George Fullerton Signature Model
Case candy only matters for a used instrument if it makes the guitar "complete" in your eyes. I like the fact that a couple of my very early G&Ls still have theirs, but it makes no real difference in their value and absolutely no difference in playability. You can pick up a basic set of Allen wrenches for $5 and have all the functionality of the case candy.Bluesboy wrote:How important is the "paperwork" or case candy with this (or any used G&L for that matter)?

I think this would still be a good deal without a case.

Re: Price check please - George Fullerton Signature Model
You are giving me a serious GAS attack this morning, I saw that a few weeks ago before the price drop and was tempted, had I known it was a 3-bolt I'd probably have snagged it. At $699 I think it's a great deal, if I had the money right now I'd be on my way there!
Which neck profile does it have? According to GGJ's page it should be either a "V" or an Oval
Good Luck!

I'm not local enough to actually do an "in hand" exam of the neck. I wish I was, LOL.Dave_P wrote:You are giving me a serious GAS attack this morning, I saw that a few weeks ago before the price drop and was tempted, had I known it was a 3-bolt I'd probably have snagged it. Re: Price check please - George Fullerton Signature Model
O.k., here's where things stand.
I confirmed that the guitar has no candy AND no case.
$699 + shipping (not close enough, LOL) + taxes = $773.40
I haven't pulled the trigger yet and the dealer gave me the boo-hoo on the price so no further discounts, LOL.
Anyone have additional words of wisdom regarding the price?
Thanks!

Go for it, get a G&G case (I did for my Legacy), and get new papers from G&L. The candy often surfaces on eBay...

Re: Price check please - George Fullerton Signature Model
Well there are two fairly recent Fullerton Sigs w/cases that sold on ebay for $770 and $900. A very small sample but that gives you an average of $835. So at $773 it's still ok imo, but right at average price wise. When purchasing guitars on-line I always take into consideration how much I could resell something for if for some reason I don't bond with it. If you search on the bay for a case they go for around $60-80 for the plastic type G&L branded versions. Hope that helps! good luck with your decision.

In that case, you've got nothing to lose. I say, go for it!Bluesboy wrote:100% returnable.
And, once you get it, don't forget to add it to our G&L Registry.

Re: Price check please - George Fullerton Signature Model
To all that has been mentioned already, the George Fullerton came with a signed copy of George's book “Guitar Legends, The evolution of the guitar from Fender to G&L”.
But what a steal even at the original $699.

EDIT: I had overlooked a post and it answered my question.
I am curious, were these original signatures or did they use decals?

The upper horn and headstock George Fullerton signature are waterslide decals of his actual signature.Salmon wrote:EDIT: I had overlooked a post and it answered my question.

Re: Price check please - George Fullerton Signature Model
Guys,
I haven't bought it yet but........I will in the AM, lol.
I do have a question though - I'm still new to the G&L world so please be patient with me if this is an overasked question:
This Fullerton is $699, shipped it's into the mid $700's - what makes this guitar any better or more desireable than a USA Legacy? I see USA Legacy's like new all the time for $725 - $825 on eBay. As Craig pointed out before, there are differences but they are subtle right?
Like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/G-L-USA-Legacy- ... 1302258120
I guess I still don't understand where these Legacy or George signature model prices are considered good, great or OVERPRICED.

"what makes this guitar any better or more desireable than a USA Legacy?"
Nothing, and in the eye of beholder, less than nothing. Fullertons have vintage small frets like old Fenders and not the standard medium jumbo. If you like that, it's a plus. if not, well......Also if there are fret issues, those old vintage frets don't have a lot of meat to do a good level. I unfortunately see a lot of older G&LS with severe tongue rise (and a lot of older guitars with that problem in general, and sadly a fair amount of new ones *cough* Fender *cough*). With medium jumbos you usually have enough fret there to eliminate the tongue rise and add the required fall-away. With vintage size frets that is far less likely.
Also, iirc, Fullertons have a rounder radius, so action will necessarily be higher for clean bends even if the fretwork is very good. If you like that, its a plus, if not, and I definitely don't, its a negative.
Add no case, and it's iffy. I'd pay that gladly for the right USA Legacy with no case, but it would have to meet certain criteria (skinny neck, fretwork I don't have to mess with, nice cosmetically) and it's hard to tell from a distance.
I guess since it is returnable you'd only be out shipping to try it out, but that is probably in the $90-$100 range if he charges you shipping both ways on a return.

Re: Price check please - George Fullerton Signature Model
Ask about the neck profile before you buy, all Fullertons are not V necks if that is what you're looking for, I've had two with C profile necks.
