Hey ChinoGee,
That is one amazing looking ASAT. It looks brand new! What a great colour combo.

That is a great ASAT, it is indeed Special. G&L has added and removed the 'Special' from headstock a couple of times, the dates escape me right now.

Nope, I don't believe they ever had an ASAT Special decal on the headstock.sickbutnottired wrote:That is a great ASAT, it is indeed Special. G&L has added and removed the 'Special' from headstock a couple of times, the dates escape me right now.
See: List of Regular Production ASAT-style guitars.
Hope this helps.

Actually, when I saw this guitar, I loved first his look, I love this colour combo. I loved the blonde finish: it's a bit transparent, we can see the wood (swamp ash) through. I love the contrast between the blonde finish and the black hardware. The time has colored the neck, and I love the look of the big MFD pickups.
And it was in fantastic condition with absolutely no marks!!! But I didn't know G&L guitars, I was just hooked by his look. So I made some researchs, and I found the USA made G&L was really great, so finally, I bought this ASAT, and I don't regret it.

Sir, you have a great guitar there!
I love the look, and I also love how specials sound.
Also how G&Ls play. Many details make for a very happy experience.
What a beautiful Asat

Thnaks!
It's a great guitar, bought second hand with no scratchs (except on the pickguard), no dents.
I love the color combo, the big MFD, the swamp ash, and the building quality is top notch. Pretty heavy guitar, but great sound.
I love this era in G&l guitars.
