Thu 2/23 Lunch missive

Hey!

Long time no LR, but this suits me these days.

Lunch
Simple, tasty, absolutely greasy. Tasty. Grilled cheese sammich. With a double shot of Havarti cheese. On yeasty homemade bread. And real butter. Did I say it was tasty?

Segue
Things have been a little quiet over on the bass side of life. Folks are loving their G&Ls, which is a good thing. Had a new member pop in a couple days ago with a bit of an issue with a new Tribbie that he ended up returning. Really loved that bass and wanted a new G&L SO BAD. So we've got him headed off to look at used USA basses and he may have found one. Hopefully he'll pull the trigger today. Seems like a really nice guy and the seller is top notch. Does this make me an enabler to this addiction that is G&L?

Has anyone been an enabler, either intentionally or otherwise? The above didn't start out that way, but it sure looks like it headed down that road. I don't feel guilty at all.

A couple of weeks ago I was a a gig where one of the support acts were a pretentious art-folk acoustic duo. I clapped along with everyone else after each song, feeling like an enabler.

Nice to see a KB LR .
The only G&L enabling I can recall is when a friend helped me move so
I gave him a cool beat up 86 rampage. He still has it , and that's saying something for someone with his dynamic lifestyle

If you haven't tried it ; place a large aluminum tin (like the turkey trays) over the loaves for the first 12-15 min. That allows for the crust to expand and become caramalized to an extent due to the steam caught in the tin.

I've been trying to make sourdough forever and can never get a good starter going. What's your secret?

Great to see you here Ken. It looks like you and I are on the same program for diet. Good stuff and we are programmed genetically for longevity, at least I like to believe that!

Elwood, I can see where the ladies really love a guy like you. A baker and also probably a cook.

I am an enabler and also get other people in trouble at times. I love it. Our lead player is now playing my G&L Legacy with the Roland synth. His wife loves it and told him to buy it. I don't need anyone to enable me. I picked up another bass amp today! Philby, good to see you around.-- Darwin

I started with this a couple years ago...feed/use it twice a week ...
(and the secret- if it needs a boost, add a little rye flour to the mixture)

i friend came to me last week asking whether to buy an mim strat or an l&g tribute (his term). the next day he told me he bought the mim for 290. i told him i would take the g&l tribute anyday. 2 days later he told me he bought an s500 and is very happy.

I have discovered since experimenting with bagel recipes that moisture on the surface of the dough is a secret to a great crust.

The crust is so good I figured out a way to make bread that is 80% crust and very little non-crust.

I am more of a person who is enabled.

Spent the morning sorting medications for the old folks, and dealing with their landlord over washing machine and plumbing issues. Still managed a nap. Refilled a propane tank. Made three meals for the family. Walked the dog 5 times.

We could have used some good bread.
