Lunch today was a bowl of Vietnamese rice noodle soup with rare sliced beef in it. I think it’s healthy - it seems relatively fat free and I always feel good after it, but it also tastes so damn good that it can't be healthy. We’ve had two Vietnamese restaurants open in my suburbs high street, called High Street, in the last two weeks bringing the number of Vietnamese restaurants on the street to three, and the number of good ones up from zero to one.
G&L: On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being not at all and 10 being 'my credit card is out right now', how bad do YOU want an SC-2? I reckon I’m around an 9.5. Whenever I see Gitman's sparkly blue one I go weak at the knees.

Who has music projects on?
Last night a friend of mine made the suggestion that we make a Hoagy Carmichael tribute album. I mentioned Hoagy when I first did the LR last year, so the timing is pretty creepy. I’ve spent the day working on a lap steel arrangement of the melody to ‘Stardust’, and it’s taking a long time but I think it’ll sound nice enough when it’s done. Here’s a perfectly matured interpretation of the song for those who may not know it, this version has the seldom recorded introductory passage.

Perpetual Earworms
I’m going to add one of these each day this week. These songs have been in my memory for as long as I can remember, they got in when I was a child and have been with me ever since. They aren't the irritating kind, to me anyway - I'm sure, in fact I hope, that some of you will be cursing me if you choose to listen. You'll notice a definite mid-late '80s theme here, that's the time when I first remember having what I'd now call an interest in music. I was born in '82, so bear that in mind before you judge me too harshly!
This first one is one that I must have heard very early in my life. I’d only ever heard it every couple of years, if that, and only this year I learned who it was performed by and what it was called. I reckon it's one of the best bittersweet melodies ever conceived and brings me to the verge of tears every time I hear it.
