FACTORY INSIDER -- "Not Your Father's G&L" ... Just wanted to put up a photo of a very cool Invader XL that came through the factory yesterday. It's black satin, ebony fingerboard with no face dots, black satin headstock and a set of EMG pickups. This guitar looked loud just sitting in the case. We plugged it into the Marshall JCM 800 we have in the back room and holy ^#%$*& did this thing rock. We will keep posting these unique instruments as they come through the shop so everyone can see and enjoy some of our efforts.

You could get the same thing in an ASAT Deluxe body in LH, though.
Hope this helps.

Seeing as EMGs have been around since the 70s that could be my fathers G&L . Definitely not my taste, but it does look nice.

G&L needs young guys playing some of their gear, getting it out among the hip crowds (not that I am hip)

Otherwise the dotless ebony board kills!

Please review the READ ME FIRST: guitarsbyleo.com History and G&LDP Guidelines.Schoe1 wrote:What would one expect to pay for thi guitar?
We do not allowed posting of new prices for any G&L products. Only the MAP price can be posted.
Posting of used prices is fine.
Unfortunately, I don't know what the MAP is for the Invader XL.
Sorry I could not be of more help.

This is a guitar from Axe Palace, you could/should ask Nick what's it selling for (http://www.axepalace.com)Schoe1 wrote:What would one expect to pay for thi guitar?

Re: Not Your Father's G&L - Invader XL
Awesome! I just found this forum and am the owner of this exact guitar for about 6 months. When I found it for sale I thought it was exactly as if I would have custom ordered it myself. I have been playing a '85 G&L Broadcaster with active Bartolini's for almost twenty years and this new guitar with emgs and being more like a strat is really nice. OK, my question is I've been reading about neck profiles as I was sure the invader neck felt bigger so I bought a cheap set of digital calipers and yes the neck width is the wider 1 11/16" although on both copies of the "Custom Build Specifications" document it claims to have a #1a Slim C 1 5/8" nut. This must be a misprint. I believe it's probably the "wide C" profile as it feels wider and thicker than the broadcaster. I am still reallly happy with it and have gotten use to having more finger room now. Could anyone verify my claim? If so thanks a bunch!

Re: Not Your Father's G&L - Invader XL
could have been ordered with a #3neck, which is the wider neck, 12 degree radius. I have this on my asat special, its great!

The #3 neck is the stock neck on the Invader XL. The Custom Build Specifications was mis-enteredkygarv7 wrote:Awesome! for the neck. You should be able to get corrected sheets by emailing Chris Robosan at repairs@glguitars.com.
Include the Model name, Serial Number and that your guitar has the #3 neck profile. And of course,
include your name and mailing address. He will sent you corrected copies.
Hope this helps.

I have a F-100 in satin black, but I added white body and neck binding to set it of a bit more, looks amazing. EMG 85 in the bridge, 81 in the neck. Drop D tuning, ready to rock

To attract a different crowd to the G&L guitars (I run a guitar shop, by the way )
A lot of guys who tried this one out were blown away, it really is an awesome playing guitar
