I recently acquired what I believed to be a mid 90’s ASAT Bass. After I received the bass I was surprised to find the neck pocket dated 2005. I’ve also included a picture of the neck heel.
Can anyone shed some light on what I may have here other than the obvious rad bass? My only guess is that you can still special order the three bolt neck on special orders but any info or opinion would be appreciated.

Re: A 2005 ASAT Bass with a three bolt neck?
Nice ASAT! The change from three bolts to six bolts in G&L basses was gradual. Some models changed in the mid-90s (before the guitars went from three to four bolts), but others didn't change until the mid-00s. I think the ASAT was one of the last basses to change over. If nobody here can confirm when the ASAT Bass changed, you might get a response on BassesbyLeo.com.

I believe the markings are: R = rosewood fretboard, PH = painted headstock, #6 = #6 neck profile, NO DOTS = deleted position markers. I'm not sure why there is no neck date stamp, but I'm not up on the details of recent G&Ls.

FWIW, my ASAT Bass from December '98 has a three-bolt neck.
