Other than the pickguard, how is this different than a semi-hollow ASAT Classic?

You might contact one or more of the Premier G&L dealers and ask if they can get it in a lefty version.

They just added a new one with 3-Tone Sunburst on a Swamp Ash body (CLF1705276), see it in the first post of this thread.

I asked Dave a few questions on the pilot run and here is his reply:
Hi Craig,

By pilot run it's kind of a test. Frankly it's so similar to an ASAT Classic S/H that it may not warrant becoming a regular model.
So, we've made some in I believe three colors and let the dealers give us feedback. We may even try another combo, no plan though.

There are no lefties, as we would not tool up just for a test, and there is presently no plan to make this a regular model.

Thanks, Craig!

I realize that this is a take-off on the F Thinline models. I really wish the pickguard was revised to flow better, looks lumpy but has the potential to really show off the lines on this model. It would also give it some "G&L ness".

I like 'em. The pickguard looks good to me- I like it more than the ones on the Fallout.

Just posted on G&L's facebook page regarding difference from ASAT Classic SH:
G&L Musical Instruments
Chambering is different. This is like an old Thinline, different from modern G&L semi-hollow.

I emailed Spencer to see if he had any photos of the chambering of the TL, here's his reply:
Hi Craig,

I don’t have any. I can see if I can get some shot for you.

The TL removes quite a bit more wood. Specifically between the two pickups and behind the bridge.
The two cavities kind of pinch together there on the TL where the channels are straight on the standard semi-hollow ASATs.

Hope that helps.

Spencer

I see some people on disreputable forums and such complaining about G&L borrowing body design and such from fender and etc.. all that jazz.

But that is super cool, I love it and looks so good, all that great ASAT Classic sound with the thinline aesthetic.

No, I don't think so. The Pilot Run appears to have run from April to June and they were not added to the current September 1, 2017 Dealer Price List.

I've also seen them advertised as "Limited Edition" by the dealers selling them. So, there you have it.

These are gorgeous! They look better than the standard ASAT Classic semi-hollow. I love that they have mahogany bodies. Would be nice if they were kept around as a new item.

I still look at the remaining ones on Reverb. If I was rich I would have bought one already. I worry it might be a tad redundant for me. Still tempting. Some good prices advertised too. Seems like they all seem to have the 1 11/16ths nut width though.

I believe that they all had the Modern Classic neck profile:
Modern Classic - 1 11/16” nut width with 1 5/8” string spacing allows a generous edge roll for superb comfort without string fall-off.
Fairly slim with mild taper from 0.820” at 1st fret to 0.870” at the 12th fret.
I wonder if G&L Sales would allow a Custom Shop version with one of the other optional neck profiles?
