linear vs. logarithmic potentiometers

Post by Zippy »

Many years ago I didn't know better and purchased some linear potentiometers for use in a guitar. As you guessed, it didn't work out that well. I never did that again.

Well, a buddy of mine just got a new fancy schmancy Explorer with coil tap circuits and of course, push/pull pots. He wasn't sure of the pup combos this offered so I looked them up. Low and behold, the 2 volume pots are both 500K linear push pull pups.

Do you need a linear when using a push/pull tap pot? The tone pot is a 500K logarithmic.
