Friday 02/08/2013 Lunch report "

Post by LeoFThe Champion »

Hello, Hey, Bonjour, Guten Tag, Ciao, Kia Ora, Hola,

Thanks for being with me this week, I hope it has been enjoyable. Thank you to everyone who has posted comments, I really appreciate them. You made the week worthwhile.
Thank you to all who have read my posts.
I didn't quite get around to posting pictures of all my guitars , nor of my 2 effects pedalboards. I love effects, in fact I love tone. I love the word Love.
Let me see what else do I love, got to start with kids, family, friends(of course) , we all need lots of friends, my dog, guitars, exercise. I could go on but I won't . I love being a musician and I am determined to improve. Actually I am determined to be the best person I can be.

I have recently learnt another great word acceptance. Erkhard Tolle defines acceptance in "The Power of Now" as a "this is it" response to anything occurring in any moment of life" There, strength peace and serenity are available when one stops struggling to resist, or hang on tightly to what is so in any given moment.
Elwood said it well "stay in the moment" great reminder mate, I do have a habit of looking forward too much. The past is heavy , no need to haul it around too, I like that.

I have been recommended to see a cool Indian man who was educated In the USA for stress relief. Apparently playing guitar is not enough. We are doing one on one mediation. Its been helpful with my stress and I can see why the great, late George Harrison liked it so much.
Manish taught me , it's good to not want anything. It indicates you are not happy with what you currently have. I have summed up a long, deep thing here but you know what I mean.
Having said that, it's impossible to not want stuff. I'm not just talking about materialistic stuff either.

I love these two quotes
In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you. - Buddha
Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.- Winston Churchill

Lunch was just a Fruit Salad and yoghurt.
My G&L question inspired by what Fred said yesterday about Steve Reed being a great guitar builder. If G&L offered custom guitars built like the old days by a master craftsmen to the specs you wanted . No matter what. Would you be interested?
There are still lots of things I want to do in my life. Having said all that stuff about not wanting anything . I do want to travel to California and buy my mate Gabe a beer.

I also want to travel some other places too
with a hot, beautiful wife who does everything I want her too, just joking.LOL. But I will!!!!!!!!

The list of holiday destinations. Subject to change.

What do you want or want to do in your life?

A special thanks to Boogie Bill who answered my selfish question with this brilliant answer.

I wish I could wave my magic wand and take away your pain. The circumstances of my divorce were different than what you describe, but it took me many years to emotionally recover...financially too. You will be going thru a lot of ups and downs...mostly downs. You may have fallen out of love, but the loss is very real. I would strongly suggest that you get some grief/loss counseling. You may find some self help books that can provide insight. It is a process that you have to go through and everyone goes thru it at their own pace. And you really need to deal with this now and completely, before you enter into another relationship, or it will blow up too. Give yourself some time. Take care of yourself...eat right, exercise, limit your alcohol and "pharmaceutical" use. Practice random acts of kindness. And be kind to her, your kids, and yourself.

You will survive. If you do it right, it will make you stronger and you will come out of it a better man. Do it wrong, don't face the issues, and the baggage will weigh you down for the rest of your life. Don't be that guy.

Great way for all of us to sail through life Bill.

So its Goodbye time. I like a fast goodbye so Goodbye.

And finally the only way I could say Goodbye, stay healthy.

what a nice broadcaster !!! and what a super nice week (again!)

where I wanna travel ? I want to go to the U.S as soon as I can, the hardest part is to chose where in this huge country. There are so much places where I wanna go. Actually, I think I'd prefer live in the U.S for a while, but it's not gonna happen (my wife being a researcher in public health for the french government)

I feel good not wanting anything (since I purchased my prototype S-500 and brought the MFDs back in my Classic S), weird but good, now I can focus on music more.

I would not be interested in a custom masterbuilt G&L, the current options fit me more than well :)

Hey Anthony, great week you've had. I've been on holiday so haven't been able to reply - damned if I type out a reply on my phone -but I have been reading. I was back in my hometown of Fremantle and had not only the best time I've had in years, but it was the best holiday I've ever had. Nothing could have made it better except more time... It's a beautiful spot and so peaceful, clean, warm and spacious compared to cold, grimy, crowded Melbourne. Don't think I'll stay here much longer! The GF loved it there too. What really made it so special was seeing my old friends again.

I can't imagine a master craftsman making a much better guitar than what G&L already make, so I'll say no thanks. Any time I play a custom shop Fender I like to get home quick and compare that feel to my G&Ls and there's not enough in it, IMO, to make it worthwhile.

I am happy with the option choices should I decide to order a brand new G&L, so status quo is fine with me.

I find that as I get older I still want stuff, but I no longer " have to have " things. We all have to prioritize , but we all know people who do not. If I could never buy another guitar I can say I am happy with what I have .

I have been fortunate to travel a lot. I have been to Europe a couple of times, southeast Asia, Japan and to a bunch of the big cities in the United states. In November I will be going to Boston and Washington D.C. Looking forward to the Smithsonian ( only 2 days there so I will stick with the planes ). I know I would have owned a few more G&L's by now but given the choice I will almost always take the trip.

Great reports this week , you will have to get the rest of your guitars up in the porn section when you get a chance.

I better pick up my Black Asat, what a FUN machine  :luv:
( I have been assimilated !)

I was at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic mountains on Tues. I might have some good summer mountain pics to add once I find a micro USB cord .

I'd love to have a custom G&L made for me,, since I didn't get picked up by SubPop in the 90's ...well , I guess that's why I get to build my own now instead of all that tedious touring. I'm going to put on some killer shows eventually. I see things coming together . I see small to med vebues with an innovative portable and killer sounding quad+ installation.
If it's a success..who knows maybe an signature model where we all can afford a Rock sticker ( they used to be Free!! )

Great lunch reports, thank you.

I'm not much of a traveler, but I suppose I would if I were rich. There's a lot to see in this country...I've always wanted to spend a summer seeing a game in each of the cities of the baseball teams. Tour the Civil War battlefields. Follow the Grand Prix circuit for a season...that would be fun.

I don't NEED much in my life, other than a healhy body; but I always say thatI have five guitars too many and ten guitars not enough.

Take care.

Bill

Nice lunch reports LeoF, AND Nice guitars people! :) I especially like the Broadcaster (I'm still kicking myself for not buying the Broadcaster I tried out in the early 90s).

Ellen, At least you can still get a mid 80's Black ASAT for less than a grand. That one that sold today on the 'bay went for 575 plus
shipping , unless you happen to need Leo's sig to prove how well you can play ( and I gather that you could impress folks with a shoebox and a rubberband if you wanted) .
Not knocking the Broadcaster uniqueness, but for those of us that know that most all the 80's G&L's were built to the same high standards , there's some world class guitars to be had relatively cheap still.
