Hi,
you have to change the neck pickup,
you got hum in the neck/middle position because on early classic S they put the regular set of neck+bridge which are RW/RP from each other (as it is in every tele style gtr with 2 pickups).
If you got hum in the neck/middle position and not in the middle/bridge, it's because the neck and middle pickups are same wound same polarity. If you change the neck pickup for a RW/RP, you will have hum cancellation in position 2 & 4 but not when you use the expander pushpull to have Neck+Bridge.

Question: Can I but a new S-500 pickup that is wound to cancel hum in this position? I want to keep both S's original but I don't want the hum.
BTW, I have a limited edition ASAT Classic III and both 2 & 4 positions are hum-cancelling.
Thanks!
Hazy

To fix this you will not be able to keep them original, but if you get a new neck MFD wound for the current Classic 'S' model you could replace and save the
original pickup for each. Contact Kenny via the contact info on the G&L On-Line store and ask if they will sell you an ASAT Classic 'S' neck pickup.
As my Thursday drinking buddy says, "Brilliant!!" I want the hum-cancelling neck/middle position that I don't have now. So, contact G&L and I can buy a RW/RP neck pup which will fix this?
I left a message at G&L last night asking: What do I order to get hum cancelling in the neck/middle position of my older ASAT S? Will the currently-available ASAT neck pickup be the answer?
Right now I'm basically looking for an ASAT S neck RW/RP pickup part number (I think that's what I need).

Yes, you will get an answer.
Remember G&L is on the West Coast and I see you posted this message at 4:13 am West Coast time and you indicated you left a message last night. They probably have not even seen your message yet.
How did you leave the message? Was it via the On-Line Store message post or the via the email address (todd@bbesound.com) or the phone number (714-897-6766)?

Wait at least 24-48 hours for them to respond.
BTW, where are you located?
I can try and help here, but need to know who and how you contacted them.
Please reply to my post and I will follow up on this for you.
Is there no G&L contact? Todd's email had an "I'm out" for the week.
BTW, I have 5 G&L guitars.
Thanks,
Rick
I brought this to Dave's attention and he said the new contact is jose@bbesound.com.
Dave will make sure the On-Line Store email address is changed to this.
