A victory over the online store

Post by Philby »

Some of you may recall my ongoing battles in getting hold of a few minor parts from G&L. Nothing major - a couple of pots and some pickup covers. It should be easy, except the on-line store doesn't work if you live outside the US. More precisely, the store DOES work but the postage calculator does not. $150 postage for pickup covers. I don't think so!

Anyway, this has been going on for about 3 years now. The local Aus distributor is hopeless and told me to get in contact with G&L, and the only response I ever had from G&L about 2 years ago was to use the local distributor.

To cut this tedious story short, last week I made my annual attempt at getting the same set of parts using the online store. Same result. $150 postage. I e-mailed the BBE address on the website to ask when the online store would be fixed. At this point something amazing happened. I received an e-mail reply almost instantly from Kenny at BBE. Normally I get no response at all. Kenny said to give him a call and he'd sort something out. So I did. And he did. And he was really helpful. And today I received my parts in the mail for the grand postage total of $5.

I hereby nominate Kenny at BBE for employee of the decade. You rock man!

That's great news. Did Kenny say if the online store would be fixed for other people out of the USA?

Ummm, I forgot to ask.

I was so stoked to be getting my stuff, the online store seemed kinda irrelevant.

The last I heard, Darth was looking at setting up an EBay store for G&L parts. I still reckon that's the simplest, easiest, cheapest option in the long run.
