New owner of a ASAT Classic here :)

Post by Fumble fingers »

I'm the new owner of a 1998 ASAT CLassic , butterschotch blonde ,maple finger board , tortoiuse shell pick guard , vintage tint neck (unless its just the age ?) .....guitar is in "like" brand new condition ..... The music store came back with the owner's lowest price of 675.00 and I accepted , I'll pick it up thursday and get the serial number registered and have my college daughter take some pics .... its not the options I would have ordered but its growing on me quick , real quick , the quality and condition is just WOW !!..... DANG these things are addictive :silent:

Congrats FF, that is a fine one. You cannot beat butterscotch with tortoise and a maple got neck on top of that. -- Darwin

Wow thats a great price! IMO butterscotch blonde NEEDS the maple fingerboard to look correct, I'm sure you'll grow to love it.

it doesn't appear to butterscotch now that I have it ... its a way lighter color almost white , but its not yellow like lemmon drop ... not sure what color it is , I don't see anything like it on the on-line builder .... its still sweet , can't wait to get home and try it out

^^^^^ yep thats it , regular blonde ..... just got done playing it for the first time , you guy's got to realize this is my first ever quality guitar , that said , is it just the quality guitar or just the "new guitar" ?? ,, but I've never played/sounded better :happy0007: ....... even un-plugged this thing is bad ass ..... if my new Legacy even sounds half as good I'll be stoked .... the vintage tint maple finger board even seems nice to eye , I was worried about not being abble see as good but so far so good ..... can't wait for daughter to come home so I can get some picts posted

Congrats! That could be a description of my ASAT Classic (also a '98). I took me a while to realize that mine was blonde, not butterscotch blonde.

this came with a tweed HSC that has a pretty loose fit , is that correct ??......

also , is there a down-loadable manual available ??.....

not sure what kind of maintenance is required and set up info would be nice to have .... there was no paper work or anything with it

I'm not really sure, but I doubt it. My newest OHSC is from 1986, but the G&G cases that have been used from the start tend to fit like gloves.

Check the Gallery. You'll find factory setup instructions there. The only change over the years that I'm aware of was when the micro-tilt went away in '97. I'm not sure about the ASAT Classic manual, but the stock controls are pretty straightforward: volume, tone and three-way switch.

Maintenance would just be keeping it clean and adjusting the setup if it changes over the seasons or you change string gauges. Other than that, the switch and control pots may need a shot of contact cleaner in another 10-20 years...
