G&L Tribute S-500 body woods

Post by Skyhawk »

I have been investigating a bit on the body woods of the G&L Tribute S-500 but have come up with no specific wood. I may be reading old material. I'm guessing its mahogany, and alder/ash on USA models. Anyone know the specifics on this? thanks,
LS

From 2003-2011, the Tribute S-500 body woods were: Basswood for Solid color finishes and Swamp Ash for the Transparent finishes.
See What is the new Tribute series which G&L announced in 2003? (and Why the change in manufacturing location for the Tributes?).

Beginning in 2012, Mahogany is the only body wood for the Tribute S-500. See G&L Tribute S-500 spec page on G&L's main website.

The USA S-500 Solid body model body woods are Alder and Swamp Ash.
The USA S-500 Semi-Hollow model body wood is Swamp Ash.
The USA S-500 Deluxe model body wood is Premium Flamed Maple Top on Mahogany.

Hope this helps.
