'94 Legacy Special Advice Needed

Post by BluzDaddy »

Last night I was at a local music store waiting on my daughter’s violin lesson to be over and spotted a 1994 G&L Legacy Special. Road worn some, missing tremolo arm, back plate, the case was missing the center latch (basically junk). Some tarnish on the bridge. The pickup covers looked crappy. Locking tuners. I played it and it had that playability element that comes with a good instrument. They want about $700 (probably worth about $575/$600 really) for it but that seems high. I was thinking of trading my 2008 Mexican Strat and my Marshall Valvestate VR100 and a Boss Wah pedal.

My question is how much money should I be expected to offer as well?

My Bluesboy Tribute needs an older brother, I think!

Thanks all!

If I remember correctly I got my three bolt neck Legacy Special for about $650. it had never been played, one careful lady owner. Think it's a '96 or '97. Mint condition, case is fine also.

$700 for a well worn one seems high to me.

I recently purchased a new Legacy Special with some damage in an insurance sale. Fell in the store and has like 4 little dimples in the back but not very noticeable. Bought it with new case for $635. $700 for what you described sounds high to me too.

Too high, your assessment is correct. I'd back out the cost of making these items right and offer them that.
