my G&L unwell finish..

Hi all,

I've just bought G&L Legacy USA model , swamp ash with maple top.
I found the sound and playability is amazing (keep my fender away)
But the finish work of G&L disappointed me.

I found the trussrod block in headstock is too deep.
The more I twist the deeper it goes (that's sometime normal),
but!! when I adjust in the right position I can't pull the wrench out.
So I have to pull with more strength to get off that scratch and made a flaw on the wood.

Moreover, I cant take the wrench to the end (just half of hole length) that not good for long-run adjustment.

I have 2 questions :
- Can I buy G&L new neck? (not my fault, actually) How much?
- Can I buy only the trussrod knob as a common part?

Are you using the supplied allen wrench and the correct sized one(4mm)? The truss rod nut location looks fine in your picture and
is meant to be recessed like that.

If you bought the guitar new from a G&L dealer you should return to the dealer with the guitar
and show them the problem you are having. If there is a problem with the truss rod nut they should
be able to get a new one under the Warranty.

the trussrod looks fine as far a recessed, but as far as doing the trussrod adjustment, did you take it to pro tech, because it should not require that much force to remove the wrench, and only small adjustments should be made at any one time then time allowed to pass for the neck to settle. you can replace just the trussrod nut, and it looks like the wrong size wrench was used and stripped the nut.

From the pics it looks the problem is the opposite, the short end of the wrench too long or the nut is not deep enough.
The wrench probably gets pinched an thats why it's hard to turn. Try a wrench with a shorter short end.

Easier to recognise, the trussrod hole axis and the hole is not paralleled.

the end of wrench only 2mm in the trussrod (the wrench stucked to the hole).

So, I'm trying to file the hole height myself.
Because, I have read many topics about G&L neck, but it seems I cannot buy from a dealer.

Actually, I'm quite a perfectionist, I want a new neck or change to a new one (unlucky it's the last one) T_T

What size allen wrench did you use?

Like I said previously:

Let the dealer and G&L correct this for you.

Did this guitar look like this when it was purchased? I have a feeling if it didn't your liable for scratching it up, you really have to continously poke and prod those nuts in order to make them look that bad, is this a new guitar? I set the nut on my legacy and asat classic once and haven't touched them in a long time. My asat classic is 8 years old and the truss slot still looks mint new, something bad happened to your's from the look's of that picture. Contact dealer if it was new I guess.

To eliminate problems involved in getting a 4mm wrench on & off the trussrod nut, you may want to consider getting a T-handle 4mm wrench like this:

The truss rod nut and recess look perfectly normal. You slipped with the wrench a little bit, and now you think you need a new neck because of it? Come on now. <censored word> happens when you try to do stuff you don't know how to do properly. Just play the thing and go on with your life, learning from your mistake. The idea that this is somehow G&L's problem is ludicrous.
