2002-2003 Tributes?

I own a 2002 Tribute Legacy and a 2003 tribute L 2500.
On both of these, the body wood has several knots, and both have a knot or two somewhere in the neck.

They play okay, other than the fact that the bass weighs around 10 pounds and the Legacy is 9.5, and the action is a little high.

Have the tributes increased in quality since their introduction? I'm considering selling my Legacy and getting a newer one if so.

I do believe they have really improved since moving from South Korea to the Indonesia factory. Check out the 2012 models
for sure.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing any Tributes until around 2004 or 2005. Were they even made in 2002 or 2003?

Yes, the Made in Korea Tribute Series were announced in 2003 and the first production versions were built in late 2002.

BTW, we have twenty-one 2002 Tribute models registered in the G&L Registry.
