100W Amps...

I just got my locally made, 1975 Eminar back after a 6+ month stay with a local tech (I did tell him it wasn't urgent ), who restored it to pristine working order for me for a really good price. It was loud before it went away, but with fresh valves throughout, a proper bias and all new filter capacitors its earth shattering. I generally use a 15W 212 that is plenty loud, but the sheer power of a 100W amp is just stunning. If only I had a 412 to put it on....


Is anyone else using a high-powered or ridiculously large amp? Let see some pics

I rarely use 100 watt amps anymore. Only on big stages.

They're bad on your ears too. I probably have some hearing loss from my younger years.

I have 2 Rivera hundred watters and a blackface Fender Twin.

They're like nuclear weapons - you hope you never have to use them, but you're glad you have 'em when you need 'em.

100's are great, but I get all I need from a 50, big or small stage 'cause they're usually mic'ed too... My custom Lucky13 is tops, baby!

I used to play with an Ampeg V4 and later a V2 that was "only" 50 watts. In addition to the wonderful smell the tubes gave off when they were cooking, the incredible sound stage these put out were something to behold. Not to mention feeling the hair on your arms flutter when you hit the low strings. Everything I have is puny in comparison and I doubt anyone really "needs" a big amp like that any longer. But you can't deny the sound it puts out, especially if you're looking for mega cleans with a huge amount of girth. Now if I had had a couple of yard apes to move em.... Looks like a fine amp. Have fun wringing it out.

my7 amps are not exactly small, i usually like me 50 watts or so, i like the clean headroom. but my 85 watt twin rarely leaves the house it is heavy and it is very very very loud. sounds great though. if i take it i turn it around,so the open back faces the audience.
