ASAT / Blues Jr

Post by gitapik »

Hey. I got the ASAT Classic about 2 years ago. Can't keep my hands off of it, now.

I just got the Blues Junior NOS off of craigslist. Nice price. Mint condition. Got it modded by BillM (including the 30w conversion) and it is fantastic. Lightweight grab and go amp. I can get it to sound like a Twin or Deluxe Reverb or a BJ on steroids. Not boxy at any volume. Stays clean at loud volumes if you set it that way. Couldn't be happier.

:alright:

These two make a great combination:

Yeah...money's tight, nowadays. I sold a nice MusicMan Silhouette to get the amp . I miss that guitar, but the money covered the entire job...so it was worth it.

Thanks.

The Blues Jr. is my favorite of the modern Fender amps. I had one 10 years ago and never should have sold it.

I've got a Mark IIB Boogie. It's been my rig for years...but it seems to be getting heavier, lately. Strange...isn't it?

I'll be bringing this Jr to many a session and gig, now. Can't get over how light it is with such a great sound.

I couldn't agree more. This has been my main club rig for several years.

the blues junior is a nice amp. i usually take bigger amps, but when i need a small one, i take something similar.

it is very light. the solid pine cabinet helps.

as far as getting weaker and leaving the bigger amps behind because they feel heavier, there is no excuse for that. stay in shape.

A bad picture of a great guitar and amp:

Image

This was my first G&L guitar, and it's still my go-to for everyday playing around the house - even with several rarebirds and couple of '86 ASATs within reach! It's just that sweet of a player. The bad lighting in the photo doesn't bring out the blonde finish, which matches the amp's tolex pretty closely.

The Blues Jr is one of the early ones that were built in the USA.

Actually, it 's Translucent Orange with Wood Binding. Hopefully this pic shows the color better.
