IMHO the tiramisu guard would look better on a plain finish like vintage white or himilayan blue. It's like a monochrome lava lamp! The guard looks too busy with a transparent finish showing such strong grain, but I lurv the body and honeyburst. A plain black guard would do the body justice. But what do I know?

That is a stunning instrument. The pick guard you selected might not be everybody's cup of tea, but WTH? If you like it, enjoy it. Personally, it just gave me a flashback to my college days - which were loads of fun. Thank you!

Actually, I originally bought this one to resell. I got into it right, loved the honey, hated the cream pg, so I switched it up. Afterward I was tempted to keep it, but alas she and I just don't connect when I play her. It happens.

So yes, I am selling it, and sold the Tribute Will Ray (which is now on its way to Alaska) to fund (read rationalize) the purchase of custom ordered USA Will Ray in Orange Flake, forearm and belly cut, stainless steel frets and color matched headstock...

That is a stunning bitta kit pat little wonder it moved so quick care to tell us what the toggle switch is for mate & is that just a stock rosewood deck or treated? Would like to know a bit more about the quarter sawn & stainless frets on the WR too we might have another revision on thanks in advance pat,cheers..

That is little toggle switch is common to the S-500 circuit, the a Comanche as well. When you flip it on it tells the blade position in #2 and #4 to turn all three pickups on. A very cool function indeed.

As for the quarter sawn neck for my WR, that just makes for a stronger, more stable neck because you are using a slab of wood that is an even cross-section of the rings in the tree. Compared to flat sawn neck that may be harvested from only a small cross-section of the woodgrain. In the end, it looks better and is a more durable neck, especially if you plan on gigging extensively.

The stainless steel frets are a lot harder than the nickel material more commonly used for fret wire, so if they are set up right from the get go, the need to have the frets re-dressed even under heavy use is uncommon. On the flip side, if you need fret work done, many luthiers don't have the cutting tools needed to work on this material. So, they will likely charge you a premium because they will trash their tools by the time they are done with the guitar.

Some say that stainless frets are brighter and slicker when bending. My Split-Jazz has them and it is one of the quicker necks i have.
