ASAT Bluesboy: Semi-Hollow or Solid??

Post by crnazz »

Hi:

I'm new to your forum and am about to pull the trigger on a G&L ASAT Bluesboy Classic (leaning towards USA made as opposed to Tribute). It will compliment my G&L S-500, in that I am looking for a bit of a different sound than the strat. I like the hb's, which is why I'm considering the Bluesboy (years ago I had a '52 reissue hot rod tele with the mini-hb and loved that sound).

Anyway, I am unable to try out the ASATs...and wondered if anyone could make a comparison between the solid body vs. the semi-hollow.

- Is is possible to describe the tonal difference between the solid and the semi-hollow Bluesboy?

- Is there any appreciable tonal difference between a semi-hollow with a f hole verses the semi-hollow without the f hole?

Thanks!

there is definitely a difference between the solid body and the sh, but i am not sure how to put it in words. if you search the forum, some people have put it in good descriptions. but there is a huge weight difference and a lot more resonance from the sh. there is no tonal difference between the f hole and no f hole versions, but i had the no f hole version and it literally blew up. i mean the top blew off the guitar. cause unknown. replaced the body with an f hole version and of course it can not happen to that.

The top came off? I'd like to see pictures of that!
