I'm on a roll with early basses now. I'm way to tired to break out the camera, but this one is a mahogany L-1000 in sunburst with very early features like large hex pole pieces, skunk stripe and chrome hardware. The features and serial number suggest 1980 production. The finish has a lot of checking, but the hardware is unusually clean. I think the fingerboard is ebony, but there appears to be thirty years worth of gunk and I will need to clean it up to tell for sure.
With the current set of light gauge round wounds it sounds very nice. I think a good set of flats will elevate the sound from "very nice" to "thump-a-licious".
Pictures will follow when I can manage to put this thing down long enough!

Congrats on your great score Ken
At least you're familiar enough with the 'without pictures it doesn't exist rule so I don't have to nag you about it. Damn, I just did! Sorry Ken

Right on !
Good to hear another early G&L is being brought back from a life of gunk and
neglect . Can't wait to see pics after a little TLC.
