Quick S-500 doubt (blueburst)

Post by Mudpick »

Hi, i'm fully convinced into getting a tribute S-500 blueburst guitar, but i've been having trouble with getting a hold of the correct model.
Searching around internet i found this beautiful gutiar on the G&L page, i'm in love with the blueburst model, but i can't get info on which is the real one.. i'll explain.
I'm from a foreign country so its either buying it from amazon, or the "official" sellers that are listed on the G&L page.
I've come across 2 models of tribute s-500: that are almost exactly the same except for a little color variation on the blueburst, and the wood in the fingerboard. What makes me doubt is that the only guitar listed in the official page is the rosewood model, but in amazon its the mapple one (which is currently out of sale for no reason) Also i see the mapple one has a whammy one, while the rosewood doesn't, but there isn't any info on why.
My doubt is, which one is the real deal? is there only one of them, or both? How can i be sure i'm getting the latest model of the guitar (lets say 2012, or 2011, or at least the last that one that was made). And from which seller i can get it with guarantee that i'm getting the real model.
Its good either maple and rosewood for me, but also i'm a little concerned that there's not a single video with a maple one in youtube.

These are the two models:
If you see closely you can see they're both S-500, and the website from which i got those images said they were "premium s-500", and i'm sure they're not, so its confusing, they're listed as official G&L sellers also.
Please help me clear this doubt so i can enjoy the guitar i'm in love with :D , thanks for your time.

Welcome,
They both look authentic, the one with the rosewood fretboard does have a dual fulcrum vibrato,
the photographer chose not to use the whammy bar for the picture I guess, a new G&L should come with
the bar ( unless it's a hardtail of course :D ).

Where are you located?
Some tribute owners here can probably help you with finding a dealer that has newer stock.

Yes, they do look legit and are Premium level models of the 2003-2006 Made in Korea Tribute Series.

See this post in the G&L Knowledgebase, General G&L Questions sub-forum: What is the new Tribute series which G&L announced in 2003?

Also see this post: Why the change in manufacturing location for the Tributes?

For manufacturer dating information on the Tribute Series, see: Serial number significance.

Please do add location to your profile: see Welcome! Read This First.

Hope this helps.

yeah thank you very much, unfortunately i couldn't buy it from that page because of a bug in its check out system.
I live in Costa Rica but i need the guitar delivered in Doral, Florida. I'm 100% sure i want a brand new blueburst tribute s500 (the rosewood fingerboard one). But i guess i'll have to wait until they're available in amazon or something /:
Thanks for your time guys

there are other online dealers who can do that. i don't think amazon is doing it directly anyway.
