My First Tribute (what a dilema)

Post by ChrisPcritter »

So I've got a few G&L's, actually all the big hitters in one form or another.
Comanche, S500, Legaccy, Asat classic, special and Z3 and two WR's.

Recently two of the imports have caught my eye so I decided to order one today.
It was between the Asat HB, with the two humbuckers and the Floyd Rose Special and
the Asat Deluxe Carved top (Red flamed maple top).. Mainly because I wanted a G&L
with humbuckers.

I love 80's rock as well as 70's and my first full sized electric
guitar was a les paul..

I love red flame top guitars but don't like
black or white much...

Later today I'll tell you what I ordered... What would you order
and why?
Which one do you think I ordered..?

you ordered the asat deluxe carved top. i wouldn't order any of them. but a good deal on a used asat deluxe carved top would tempt me. i have been tempted by the korean tele delixe set neck before, a very nice guitar.

The asat deluxe ct....I've been enjoying the humbucker sound lately and I love the way it looks.

Probably can't go wrong with either.

You got the Asat Deluxe Carved top w/Red flamed maple top. Just a guess ;) I have several G&L USA guitars & recently purchased a Legacy Tribute. It really is a great guitar. The finish isn't quite up to Fullerton standards, but it's got fullerton pickups & bridge, plays very nicely - and it was inexpensive! 8-)

Enjoy your new guitar!

I also guess that you ordered the ASAT deluxde carved top. Having money down on one myself, I can guess for the same reasons I did. I too always wanted an H_H G&L, and they don't make a ASAT Carved top in the USA model.

Those are all good guesses and reasons, ok all the same guess.. but still I
may just be that guy that has to have a floyd rose and I definately can't
afford the american G&L Invader that I want.. The carve top has a MAP of
$100 less than the HB and looks way nicer so I can see where you'd come to
that conclusion..

Any other guesses...?

i love that ASAT with the floyd, and i'd totally get that to compliment my rampage...jerry cantrell rocked an ASAT with a kahler in it back in the AIC days alongside his rampage, too ;D

it doesn't make any sense to want a floyd with the df trem being so much superior for feel and tone. so i still think it is the red carved top.

and the Winner is...

Drum Roll Please...

I ordered BOTH..

I sold a Rivera amp I had so I figured what the heck..
If I decide I don't like one I can always sell it later and the
Asat HB (from what I'm told) has been discontinued..
I'm hoping a floyd rose PRO will fit the rout and anchor
spacing. WHen I can afford it I'll get an american Dual HB
asat....
TIl then I'll file and polish fret ands and to my own set ups
to make the other two do exactly what I want...

After ordering the Carved top I found it in stock at a local shop that
sold it to me for the sme MF price... so I got to play it today..
I love this guitar..

I think you're thinking of the short-lived hog US made ASAT HB which only had one bucker:

whereas you describe the Tribute Series ASAT HB. The former was discontinued after less than 35 built, the latter is still in the catalog as far as I know.

Anyway, good choice and congrats ChrisP! :happy0065: Somewhere I hear my dad's voice telling me you can only play one guitar at the time. But then again, he hasn't seen Nigel Tuffnel now, has he ....

Yeah my mom and dad told me that until I went in the air force and kept buying guitars at pawn shops and fixing them up and selling at, at least what I paid for them when we needed extra $$ for bills.

I do agree that the DF is great but again, I'm a child of the 80's so an ASAT with a
Floyd just sounds like a great idea.. If a floyd pro fits I'll be massively happy...
