Ronnie Montrose RIP

Post by suave eddie »

Ronnie Montrose dead at 64

I wasn't really too aware of him in his early career. I didin't realize he played on the Tupelo Honey album and other early Van Morrison.

This is what got my ear:
There are many live versions of this on Youtube, but I still like this studio arrangement best.

Sad news.

I have enjoyed his music for years and years.

I still have a vinyl copy of their self-titled first album "Montrose", with lead singer Sammy Hagar. An awesome hard rock album, and one of the classics of that time.

My bro is a major Johnny Winter fan - he only introduced me to Edgar Winter fairly recently. Don't know how I missed him. Good sounds. Not familiar with Ronnie Montrose, but I always seem to like musicians who have passed on... ! 'Town without' has nice tone.
