My daughter's school has minimum days this week so
we don't eat til she gets home around 1. Today is
terrible tuesday so chilli cheese and chips. One
bowl, one can, one microwave, and a little cheese.
Nuff said..
Topic of the day.....
Guitars I thought I would never own ...
I've got two, the first was years ago and was a Jem 7 Dbk
which resembles asphault with a mirror on it.. what can
I say the alnico pickups paired with a slim neck and great
dimarzio tone...
Number two was recent and came as a surprise to me. I've
always disliked gold and Natural T shaped gutiars. Two trades
later I end up with the MF'ing (metal flaking) gold guitar of
my dreams.
I'll get up a quick link while I try to figure yout why I can't post a
thumbsize pic

Hey ChrisP,
Seems some Photobucket server is/was down. First time I tried to get to your pic, I got a server time-out message. As my closest professional partner and I always say, in our business our brethren predominantly produce 2 kinds of software: vaporware (projects/products that gets never released) and crapware (stuff that just doesn't work in all required/expected circumstances). Clearly here we are dealing with the latter
Are there guitars I never expected to own? That would be about every single one in my collection, but in particular a PRS Artist II. OTOH, would there be a guitar I would be damn sure I would own? Yes, a Gibson LP Standard, and I did for a short while. But that experiment was not very successful and the LP got exchanged for the aforementioned Artist II.

P.S. Nice knobs

can't get to the link. i never thought i would own a g&l. 10 years ago there was a dealer in town, lots of them on the wall, i hated the headstock, would not consider it. i also never thought i would own an srv signature strat, but someone was selling it, asking for 400 bucks with ohsc and all case candy, fender cs 54 pups, and i could not say no to the deal. i changed the pickguard, don't want the srv thing that bad, but it is a great guitar. i really never thought i would own my white chris clem/scott lentz custom strat. it was hanging in that same g&l dealer, for 3 years, original asking price 2700 bucks. one day the owner needed cash badly, he asked me how much cash i had on me, i said 800. he goes, "take it. take it now before i change my mind." since i went there at least once a week to play that guitar, it was that good, i never though i could afford it.

Chris missed yesterday but back in the grove. Had a sandwich but the chili you had would do the job for me!
That Z-3 you have has some bling. I also like the knobs and you cannot beat a G&L flake color. Thanks for sharing.
I have about 44 more guitars than I thought I would own. I also did not plan on owning any more Gibsons. I did trade my LP for a beautiful chambered Tele and then ended up with a SG Diablo. It is a wall hanger and doesn't get played. I had been considering a 335 type guitar and recently found a Hamer Newport which is a bit smaller but has a short scale neck. It is a fine guitar and gets a lot of play time. Who knows whats in the future but it will be something! In retrospect, I do not have a chrome pickguaed on anything! --Darwin

actually the knobs aren't on it anymore as the guy I got it from
wanted to keep them so it has the factory style knobs on it.
I knew I'd have a G&L 15 years ago the first time I played an S500, but
I never expected to love the Asat as I do..

Crispy's Guitar:

I never would have thought I would buy a 2nd guitar within a few months after buying a guitar when I had stopped playing 20+ years earlier. The guitar itself is a popular ASAT Classic. I never disliked the guitar or thought I would never own one. It is the fact that I bought a 2nd guitar that is significant.

Hey Chris,
Again, another sweet looking z-3.
When i bought my first s-500 years ago i never would have imagined owning 8 of them. Now i can imagine easily getting up into double digits. A few were nice surprises last year from the "bay" that i didn't think i would end up winning - but i am glad i did

Hey Chris, nice glittery guitar. Those finishes look unreal in person. It seems to me that sparkly guitars are the antithesis of what's "cool" at the moment - relic'd guitars and sort of old fashioned looking stuff - and can be had for good prices used. I got my sparkler for a great price.
I never thought I'd own a steel string acoustic, but ended up buying one last year. I've played for probably 3 hours tops in the last 6 months.... Thinking of trading it towards a P-style bass.
