Question on ASAT Classic-->Version with NO pickguard?

The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Question on ASAT Classic-->Version with NO pickguard?

Post by thunder100 »

Dear Community

Is there an ASAT Classic version (or was there) with no pickguard like my Deluxe SH or a Special deluxe?

I look for classic Tele Twang ,Still with the G&L saddle lock bridge(I know its less metal arround the bridge pickup) and NO PICKGUARD or possible TRANSPARENT pickguard

Thanks for a positive answer

Roland

Something like this

Image-->More a redburst wood colour-->and 2 Pickups

or this

Image-->but that colour would be too much

Hey thunder100,

There might be others, but he only ASAT Classic sans pickguard I know of is the CCD Special Build ASAT Classic with spalted maple top produced in mid-2008. I have heard different stories on how many were produced, either around 40 to top off a run which also included 60 ASAT Classic Bluesboys with spalted maple top or an outright 100 just like for the Legacy and L-2000. In any case, here's a pic:

Hope this helps,

i don't think the asat classics come with the saddle lock bridge. might be harder than the no pick guard to find. i have a bluesboy with no pickguard.

.

Would it be an ASAT Classic if it did not have the ashtray bridge?

A deeper internet search shows just same, also mostly on the Fender side.My next look is in the custom shop options, which is a bit hard from overhere in Europe

Probably no because it alters also the sound. But nicer looking is the Saddle lock bridge to myself. But in case I go with the Ashtray and no pickguard as compromise

So it's stock.

I looked quickly at the image and it almost appeared to be a mini-humbucker to me. (doh!)

I have a BB too and I really love the middle position - the way the bridge MFD melds with the Seth. Something special to my ears going on there.... -ed

i actually swapped out the bridge pup to a fralin steel pole 43. same design but with alnico magnets. the middle position remains spectacular, the bridge up matches the neck better now though.
