Hello all!

A little about me
-------------------
My name is Peter, I am happily single at 40 and no kids.
I have been a G&L owner since......ah I can't remember....1996 maybe.
It was the first guitar that I bought brand new. A Cherry burst S500, which I still have and use today.
Back before owning one, I would travel from store to store trying out guitars. G&L stuck out, even though I felt I
wasn't a S type guitar player, I was proved wrong. The feel was rock solid. My first encounter with G&L is fuzzy,
no, scratch that, it is blank. I honestly don't remember, what I do remember was getting hooked on the quality and
craftsmanship of the guitars. So much so, I ended up buying a bass and more guitars. More on this later.

Lunch
-----------
For today's lunch is ground Turkey.
2 lbs of 1% fat ground turkey cooked in a stew of tomatoes, spices, vegetables, and anything else that would
qualify to be added in the stew. And use it for the rest of the week.

Who here makes lunch for the entire week? Granted, by day 4, you are stick of the stuff, but still. It makes life
easier. No more scrambling around looking for what will be today's lunch.

I dig that non-production orange! There is a Red/White/Blue metal flake, but I prefer to separate political statements and guitars.

Hey Peter,

I'm lucky if I eat lunch any day, so making lunch for the entire week is a luxury I can only dream of, but I do admire the effort and forethought.

Those Metal Flake colors and the WR versions posted are just giving me more GAS. Closest I have is a candy apple red Z3. I does take a certain personality or insanity to carry around that much bling.

Who here likes to tease animals? As a dog owner can't say I like teasing animals, maybe my fear of becoming some animals idea of an afternoon snack!

like metal flake colors enough to own one. i think they can look nice sometimes, but definitely not for me. if i got a crazy good deal on a guitar i wanted and it was metal flake, it wouldn't stop me though.

it is a good idea to make lunch for the whole week, but 2 lbs of turkey lasts you? i guess the turkey is a good idea, you can just have that on thursday too, no need to cook separately for thanks giving

as far as teasing animals, my cats love to be teased. my dogs not so much. you can tease them, for a little, telling them about a car ride, or walk, or getting a bite, but better deliver in a short time.

Lunch for the week: I did that last week, made a nice bison/beef chili. It came out great but, like you said, by the end of the week I was done with it.

Metal Flake: eh, I don't really care for the metal flake. It looks good on some guitars (I like the orange Will Ray for example) but not something I would order. I think the mirror pickguards bother me more the the actual flake though.

Tease animals: I usually make good on those trigger words if I say them (walk, cookie, etc), but there's no harm in getting a little extra energy out by letting him jump around in anticipation .
I do get a kick out of teasing my friend's kids though, now that I have my own I feel like that may come back to bite me in the arse.

Lunch - I often make a soup/stew/chili for dinner Sunday or Mon, and make some kind of one pot wonder the the other and then have them both for lunch throughout the week.

Pets - My dog is too easy to tease. Go for a drink of water and walk by his dish and he is sure it is dinner time. I am pretty sure my dog can spell W-A-L-K, because his people mom does that all the time.

Finish - I am hot and cold on the metal flake finishes. When they look good, they are really great. But when they look cheesy, well.....

Its fun to play with animals and I am up for teasing them to an extent but i always give in to them and give them a treat.
A dog trainer said that people can make their animals fat by too many treats. A standard slice of american cheese can be cut into 100 treats for the average dog.
They just need a burst of flavor.

I had a chance to buy a silver metal flake SB2 at a store close out a few years ago, but i missed it. It would have been sweet.
I normally am not into attracting that much attention to myself.

Those are some cool colors that you have posted. I would be into buying one at the right price.

Lunch: never could eat anything like a casserole or stew all week. Makes me sick, literally. I can eat something like rice prepared differently everyday or bread or fruit.

Glitter finishes look good to me in a sort of "oooh sparkly" way. I like the G&L tangerine, red and turquoise. Would I own one? Probably but only if I could have a large collection. It would not be my third or fourth choice.

Teasing animals: Not usually. But there's a silly little yappy dog on the next street that goes into a barking frenzy whenever anyone walks past. I've started kicking the fence when going past to make sure it gets really worked up. Teasing cats with a piece of string is always fun and I think most cats actually enjoy it.

that is not acceptable teasing to me. i i saw someone do that to my dogs, i may just open the gate and go and teach them a lesson they never forget. the dog is doing its job when barking at people walking past. trying to work them up and get them into an aggressive mindset is not teasing it is cruelty.

Love that orange flake. There was an orange flake Legacy for sale on ebay a month or so ago. A black flake would be great. Brown flake would be interesting, just as an experiment in ugly.

Peter, I am a creature of habit and can have the same kind of sandwich for lunch every day, Sometimes Ginny will make a big pot of Chili if she is going to gone. Thst is my meals until it is gone and I never get sick of it. Food is not a priority of mine. Often when I have a good project going I will not eat all day. Bottom line is I love good food but I cannot put guitars on the back burner like I can with food.

I never had any idea I would buy a metal flake guitar until I saw my new ASAT hanging on the wall in the store. G&L flakes are the best I have ever seen. Before when I would see a flake guitar I would refer to it as a bass boat. Now I call my Asat Blingy. I will get another but am not sure which color. I will know when I see it. The pictures you posted today are pretty awesome but I think that no pickguard is in!

I do not like to see anyone tease animals. Playing is one thing but the difference is obvious when observing an animals reaction to what is going on. One of our sons would tease our Sam Cat unmercifully while Sam was a kitten. Today Sam still bites him when he is here and does not like him. Animals react to trained behavior. I am a softie with animals. It is too bad that all the children in the world could can't live like our cats. Sometimes I wonder if I am living as good as the cats!

i took a chance by ordering the metal flake without ever seeing one in person, and all i can say is that pictures do not do it justice. I am with Darwin when he says that these are the best flakes in the business. There certainly will be another flake in the future for me...... I would love to see a purple.

I saw the orange metal flake legacy on the bay, and it took some restraint not to pull the trigger. It had a HB in the bridge, if it had been a standard legacy it may have been mine!

I grew up with dogs in the house - nothing but love and respect for them ........ Cats on the other hand ( i am allergic )

I don't tease animals. They don't tease me, and fair is fair. But as I noted earlier, when the dog we fostered briefly then adopted eleven years ago mis-behaves (eats used tampons, barks at friends he's known a decade, etc.), I jokingly tell him that we're still just fostering him. Of course, he knows better - and just to put me in my place, will then vomit up on the rug - usually right before I sit down to a meal. Guess the joke is ultimately on me. If anyone reading this has any tips on removing bloody dog puke from light-colored carpets, I'd sure appreciate it.

Regarding making a week's worth of lunch, not really. Lunch for me is just a grab and gobble. Breakfast is my big meal, though the family enjoys a hearty dinner and I am more than happy to cook it for them. But they don't appreciate having the same thing more than two nights in a row. I'll sometimes make a big batch of something, then freeze a bunch of it and give it to my elderly parents, as their ability to shop and cook has declined precipitously in recent years.

Regarding flake finishes, I think some of them are truly stunning. That said, they are not for me at all. At my skill level, the less attention I draw to myself the better. Nice start! - ed

natures miracle is very good at removing stains like that. i also usually spray them with scotchguard when new, so stains come out easier.

my chow chow teases me all the time. she also plays jokes. i tell her to "down" for example, and she'll give me a paw. she smiles big and all proud that she pulled a joke. mind you, she knows exactly which command means what, she just likes to play jokes like that. the bigger pit mix (pic in above post) also likes to tease. when i throw a frisbee or a ball, when he is bringing it back he'll stop a few inches short, and when i reach out to grab it he takes off. comes up close again, waits until i reach and takes off again. he loves it. when i say i tease them, it is just playing. like i tell them, let's go for a walk and sit down. for about 5 seconds, then get up and take them. playing is one thing, disappointing them is another.

Some dogs can understand up to 250 different words and gestures. I do not remember the name of the breed but I know someone with a pair of some type of English Sheepdog? that are the most well-behaved dogs. They seem to relish having so many ways to please their owners. I think that is part of the problem with a lot of dogs. They are not trained and they struggle with their impulses, emotions and undefined boundaries. It is like raising a child without teaching them enough or defining any rules. People and many domesticated animals need to be intellectually stimulated and to know boundaries. Maybe some people do okay flying by the seat of their pants. Generally this sloppy upbringing produces annoying people and animals.

So one day I was walking up to the house and one of these dogs came charging at me. I was confident that the dog knew all he had to do was stop me in my tracks. I also suspect that these dogs were never trained by actually biting anyone or anything. Just like they understand as many as 250 words I think they are capable of multiple degrees of action when they are guarding the property. I doubt they would bite me but I do not know about a true threat to his owners. While he was being ferocious and blocking my path I stood my ground. Perhaps overconfident I greeted him as if he was being affectionate. The dog gave himself away. He started wagging his tail. I knew I had him at that point. I figured I had him sooner but the tail confirmed it. I am pretty good with gaining a sense of what is going on inside a dog's head. Cats? Forget it but dogs yes.

The owner came out and called the dog. The dog immediately went to his master's side. There wasn't any aggressive snarling at me like he was reluctant to give up a potential bone to gnaw on. He also did not go running to his owner for affection. It was all about cooperation and obedience. He did precisely what he was supposed to do and was completely focused on his duty.

I did not recognize the name of the breed on this list. I think their lists of most and least intelligent breeds is suspect. It looks like they were just going by the most common breeds people have as pets or working dogs.

a wagging tale has several possible meanings. the wag can be different as well. a schutzhund trained dog is trained by actually biting people, but they are not to bite if you don't move. they also will do a bark and hold. standing your gr4ound is always the right thing to do with a dog, but staring at them is not the best thing. ignoring them is better. having the confidence is part of the deal. if you were unsure of yourself, the result may have been different.

I also think the G&L's are done well, but it's really not my thing. Bling me with some quilted maple, and the GAS kicks in hard....

I used to make things for lunch or dinner that would get me through a few days back when I was single. My wife likes to cook so I get more variety these days. It does take up more time though!

Metalflake finishes - Some look good, some don't - I would not pay a $400 upcharge for a metalflake finish, but that's just me. I would rather own a transparent finish over a beautiful wood grain & would pay extra for that, if necessary.

I like dogs - don't own one. I prefer to own a cat but only have one at this point - He's 17 years old and part of the family.
