Daft idea? ASAT Deluxe S or ASAT BB S

Post by jwebsmall »

Would it make any sense to add an S-500 middle pickup to an ASAT Deluxe?

Probably not for the Blues Boy.

Will there ever be a saddle lock bridge with piezos?

Imagine that a Frankenstein ASAT power Deluxe S.

I better go away now. :)

The S stands for the S-500 pickup used in the middle position at least according to what has been posted on some retailers sites. I have not confirmed it at the G&L website. I first thought it meant Strat configuration. I know there has also been a 3-pickup ASAT that used a Legacy pickup and did not use an S-500 in the middle. I do not recall whether the use of the "S" came at a different time once the S-500 pickup was used in the middle. I think they were first a limited project. The "S" might have come once they were reintroduced???

There already has been a 3 pickup configuration with the larger MFDs so you would have to wonder if the difference in tone would be enough to justify this.

The Bluesboy has a carefully balanced match. I suspect throwing in an S-500 pickup in the middle would be too much for the Seth Lover pickup. What you might end up with could be counterproductive.
