G&L ASAT Deluxe Tribute, humbuckers and single coil sounds

Post by jwebsmall »

I can't get over how good G&L humbuckers sound and especially coil tapped.
I like them if it were just for their single coil sound!

The guitar above starts sounding good around 15 seconds into the video.

I like the sounds of the G&L humbuckers better than the Seymour Duncans.

I was first surprised with my Tribute Invader XL - thinking wow these pickups
are awesome for any guitar let alone an import! But the pickups are not imported - duh?

I guess you can't order G&L humbuckers on USA guitars since I don't see these
listed on the options page. It seems a shame to have to order them from the G&L
online store to put G&L after market pickups in a USA G&L guitar.

I would just order the tribute ASAT deluxe except I find the 1 5/8" nut too
narrow. I prefer the carved top of the tribute too but the USA only comes
with the flat top.

Any way I keep coming back to the Tribute ASAT Deluxe thinking what a great
sounding guitar it is. Here's the Tribute ASAT Deluxe again with distortion
in humbucker and later single coil mode:

Come to think of it I like the MIJ tele's better than the USA too
but that's a matter of tone and build quality not just a pickup change! And I can't
get over how sweet the tribute Ascari GTS sounds. I just really love the G&L
humbuckers. And G&L are the first tapped humbuckers worth playing in single coil
mode IMO.
