LEFT HAND SPECIFICATIONS?
Hi. First post - I've just bought a new Legacy (Indonesian) left hand model and noticed the Volume and Tone controls are right handed. I.E. they go from 10 to 1 as I turn the volume UP!? Is this regarded as normal? A quick scan of the net doesn't produce many left handed knobs (no cheap jokes please) but is this the same on top end guitars? Has anyone paid $1500 for this kind of cheap craftsmanship? And please don't say -just don't look - what is the POINt of numbers if we are not meant to notice them. I also have a LAG Jet that has no numbers on the controls, and therefore no issue...Thanks for your help

Re: LEFT HAND SPECIFICATIONS?
Judging from the G&L store site they only make the legacy style knobs in the one orientation so I guess it looks like this...
A quick google search does not seem to offer any site making left handed orientation knobs, maybe you should try putting some barrel knobs on?
Out of curiosity is the pots reversed as well?
maybe some folks with lefty legacys will be able to comment on whether this is on the USA made ones as well.

Re: LEFT HAND SPECIFICATIONS?
There are very, very few lefty guitars with lefty pots and knobs, a solution would be to have some lefty pots fitted and use some S500 style knobs.
I have quite a few lefty guitars, only one of them has lefty pots and lefty knobs, and it's not a G&L or a Fender or even a Gibson, it's a Larrivee RS4. Mind you the pots were converted manually for each lefty guitar, I don't know where the lefty knobs were sourced. As a long time player, since 1980, I've just gotten used to not using the pots very much. If they do work it's in the opposite direction to the correct way, which believe it or not is better if the pots are not lefty pots. If they are simply right handed pots wired in reverse they act like on / off switches as there is no taper at all to speak of. I prefer the look of the plastic knobs on Legacys but the knobs on the S500 are more practical as the lack of numbers is easier on the brain !
As for my own G&Ls, all USA models I can't speak for the Tribute models as I've never played one, as far as I know they are all wired right handed using right handed knobs, I'm not 100% sure about them all as I've mentioned I don't use them nearly as much as some players.

Re: LEFT HAND SPECIFICATIONS?
yes, I looked at all the guitar parts stores to find knobs that are numbered the other way and couldn't find them. Very surprising.
So, I also use the barrel knobs with no numbering.

Re: LEFT HAND SPECIFICATIONS?
Hey, thanks for the responses! I am generally an acoustic player, and I am just shocked that ALL(?) the big manufacturers and even "hand made" guitar producers adopt this CHEAP solution. I've looked at many top end lefty guitars on google this week, and (assuming the pots are standard) they almost ALL have numbering going anticlockwise, which means the knobs will diiminish in number as you turn UP the volume. Imagine G&L / Frnder/ Gibson inserting in all new right handed cases, a note that reads "THANK YOU FOR BUYING THIS QUALITY GUITAR. SADLY, OUR SUPPLIERS HAVE PRODUCED A BATCH OF CONTROL KNOBS THAT ARE NUMBERED LEFTHANDED AND SO WILL SHOW THE REVERSE OF YOUR ACTIONS. COULD WE SUGGEST YOU GO BUY SOME RIGHT HANDED KNOBS TO MAKE YOUR GUITAR JUST RIGHT? ALTERNATIVELY, OF COURSE, YOU COULD JUST TRY TO IGNORE THE KNOBS? WE DO NOT ANTICIPATE OUR SUPPLIER WILL RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM ANY TIME SOON. WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR CUSTOM AND LOOK FORWARD TO SELLING YOU MORE GUITARS IN THE FUTURE" Imagine guitar shops offering the option "And would you like controls with left hand or right hand numbering with this guitar, sir? It's ludicrous! But not very funny.

Re: LEFT HAND SPECIFICATIONS?
Interesting. Of my guitars, etc., I have two with lefty knobs: The OP24 system on my Ovation/Adamus is lefty & my Parker has reverse knobs. No numbering, but the pot is reversed.
