My first G&L! TBH I have not paid attention to their guitars, until I tried a Legacy (unintentionally, as i was looking at some pedals) in store and I was just floored. Ordered this from PGS and it instantly feels familiar to the one I tried. Also a big thumbs up to PGS for their excellent customer service! My Legacy came without the trem bar set screw and these guys got it covered pretty quick.
I swap the pickups with what I have around: Fender CS '54 (Neck/Middle), Duncan '59 (Bridge). This will not be my only G&L...

That is perfect with no pickguard. It is an alder body? looks like it to me and is it heavy or lighter? It is beautiful! Any particular reason for the pickup swap?-- Darwin

I didn't like the stock JB because it didn't blend well with single coils so that one was swapped out pretty early on. Tried Dimarzios Norton, 36th Anniversary PAF and finally settled with a Duncan '59 SH-1n.
More recently I swapped out the stock G&L single coils (Neck/Middle) with the Fender Custom Shop '54 set that I have lying around. I'm guessing these Fenders are lower in output and therefore brighter and glassier, which is what I like. The stocks are nice too, better for higher gain settings but for my purpose the Fender pickups are going to stay. (But not for my Strat, just sold)
I think these changes make it an even more versatile guitar. I can imagine playing this guitar for all sorts of gigs... not that I have any now
