Incoming ASAT
At y'all's recommendation, I'm now a G&L owner. This one is enroute, my first!

Well, for some reason, I can't get the image to load - maybe someone out there can assist?

Here you go:
Click Thumbnail to Enlarge
Once you have uploaded an image to Photobucket you need to hit "Share" then "Generate Link Code. Once that is generated you just copy and paste it in your post. The image is too large to meet the forum restrictions so I used a thumbnail link.
At the risk of making something simple seem confusing, you did not generate a thumbnail (automatically done when you select "Generate Link Code" so I downloaded your image, then uploaded it to my PB account where I generated link code and then substituted the thumbnail address to my account for yours. The result is a thumbnail that exists in my PB account which is linked to the large image in your PB account. Had you originally generated the link code I could have typed out the code to create a thumbnail link. I tried it and discovered there was no thumbnail image in your PB account so I had to do this other way. I am pretty certain I have managed to make this seem complicated but it really isn't.

However, if you use the timage= BBcode, you do not need to create a separate thumbnail image.Michael-GnL-Michael wrote:Here you go:

Ah yes you are supposed to read the linked information
How do you know the proportions are correct? Do you have to take the image into something to determine the sizes first so the generated thumb retains the aspect ratio?
I experimented using the timage="320,240" BB Code and I like this sized thumbnail:

I drop the image link into a new tab and then use the browser's Inspect Element feature (Chrome) to get the sizing.Michael-GnL-Michael wrote:Ah yes you are supposed to read the linked information

The photo here is 1024 x 757, so I just subtract 24 from each and use "1000,733" for the size in the timage= code.
That way you get an almost full size inline image and if viewers wants to see the full size they can click on that image
to bring it up.
What a great looking ASAT Classic Ishines got!
Hope this helps.

These are the coolest of all in their simplicity. It reminds me of the 52 Tele reissue I had but G&L has much nicer swamp ash grains. They are truly the classics of all time and a timeless guitar. These are the type of guitars that people will ask "how old is it"? -- Darwin

Thanks for all of the info guys - and getting the pics up for everyone to see! I'm enjoying this baby - was going to take pics on the deck today, but it's raining...will do so another sunny day. I'm use to guitars w/ humbuckers (PRS), so this is quite a divergence, and I'm having a good time!

Glad to hear that you're having a good time with your new G&L ASAT Classic! You can always post pictures later!
Watch out for GAS - My first G&L was a ASAT Classic in Butterscotch Blond - I have since bought 3 more G&L guitars.. I enjoy them all.

If you haven't played a ASAT style guitar before your playing skill is likely to dramatically improve. Everything you are doing wrong will be highlighted.lshines wrote:Thanks for all of the info guys - and getting the pics up for everyone to see! Congratulations!
+1 on Lefty's comments. A butterscotch ASAT Classic was the "gateway" G&L for me. I lusted after any G&L for about ten years, finally took the plunge on my Classic last fal. I am currently waiting for #9 to arrive now...
I was always a Strat fan prior to getting my Classic, but since then the majority of my purchases have been ASATs. I agree with jwebsmall - my playiong has improved more in one year of owning an ASAT than it did in the previous thirty years of playing other guitars.
