Hello - I'm new here - have the tele (excuse me - ASAT) bug. Have been wanting a tele-type for a while, and have just learned of G&L from a friend. So, I'm kinda going crazy on what to order first (I figure y'all understand the need for more than one).
I want an ASAT classic, in swamp ash - BSB, but with a cream color pickguard (ain't this sacreligious). Do you think G&L will do that?
OR a swamp ash with a "see thru" vintage white finish, if that is something G&L can / will do - is there such a thing? Maybe that is just the premium color "blonde"? It is hard to tell the colors that well on the computer.
I would say the regular color vintage white, but the G&L site description states that regular colors only are on alder - not swamp ash (I really have a thing for sa, huh). I wonder if G&L would go for the standard color on sa?
Finally, please suggest dealers that y'all like to deal with - who might go along with ordering such a beast.
Any help will be appreciated!

see-through blond on ash is sweet and i can't imagine G&L wouldn't be offering that. there are a number of good dealers and i'm sure others will weigh in, but my first pick would be Buffalo Brothers in Carlsbad CA. not only because they've done a number of limited edition ASAT's (ASAT 50, Trinity, Blues Boy, etc.) and work closely with the factory, but also because they're first rate and have a great love for all things George and Leo. while you can get a good deal on used G&L's, the guitars that the factory are building now are second to none, and as regards wood, fit and finishing, their "stock builds" are better than a lot of "someones" custom shop guitars. welcome aboard and happy hunting.

The transparent white is called 'Blonde' in G&L speak. Vintage white is a solid colour. If you order the blonde it will come with swamp ash. You can order it with whatever colour pickguard you want too

Re: new mbr wants advice on ordering and ASAT
This points to another failing of the G&L website.
If you look at the Buffalo Bros. website regarding G&L options it indicates that Alder is the standard body wood. Ash is available as an upgrade and a premier finish is included with this increase in price for the ash body. You could of course pay for the ash upgrade and still get a "Standard" finish, but the "Premier" finish is included in the upcharge for the ash body wood.
I can't find this information anywhere on the glguitars.com options page.
You might also check out the "Butterscotch Blonde".......it's more of the classic Telecaster look.

Another piece of information on the Buffalo Bros. website that is not clear on the G&L site is that the standard pickguard is white. White Pearloid, Tortoise, Creme, 3-ply Black, 3-ply White, 3-ply Mint, 1-ply Mirror, 1-ply Black are all available for an additional cost.

They are listed on the ASAT Classic Spec page. BTW, you left off the Black Pearloid pickguard in your list.suave eddie wrote:This points to another failing of the G&L website.

Re: new mbr wants advice on ordering and ASAT
Black Pearloid was left off because I pasted that info from the Buffalo Bros website which is still not updated.
I notice the ASAT Classic spec page also does not mention Ebony as a fretboard option.
I'm not the only one here who believes still that the G&L website is not clear and complete when it comes to deciphering all the options. It seems like it could be organized better.
For instance, when you click on the link that says "CLICK HERE FOR USA GUITAR OPTIONS" http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/US ... guitar.asp
it would be nice if it actually listed ALL of the options in one place.
I realize that all orders must go through authorized dealers and they should have all this information but it would be great if the official G&L website had all of this information clearly organized so you could go to your dealer and already know what you want.

Yeah, Tim's option page is somewhat out of date and missing a few options.suave eddie wrote:Black Pearloid was left off because I pasted that info from the Buffalo Bros website which is still not updated.
This is true, for some time Ebony was removed from the fretboard options due to unavailability of quality Ebony wood.suave eddie wrote:I notice the ASAT Classic spec page also does not mention Ebony as a fretboard option.
G&L has not updated the spec pages to reflect the return of Ebony as an option for guitars.
I, too, agree that the G&L website needs some updating for content and clarity. I have compiled a list of items,I'm not the only one here who believes still that the G&L website is not clear and complete when it comes to deciphering all the options. It seems like it could be organized better.

many from you and other members here, regarding the G&L website. I sent this list to Dave to review and
hopefully he will have his web developers make the needed improvements to the website.
It is in the works, so stay tuned.
Hope this helps.

That's great Craig--hopefully they can provide an interactive "create your guitar" feature like some other sites have also.

I did include that in the list to Dave, so we will just have to wait and see.suave eddie wrote:That's great Craig--hopefully they can provide an interactive "create your guitar" feature like some other sites have also.
