Ideas On My Fretless L2000
I have posted pictures of my Transparent Blue L-2000 with the Ebony and flamed neck. I have been looking for a fretted G&L bass but have found nothing comparable to this one for wood grain of the body and neck. I will not use the fretless and have been debating a trade. Do any of you think it would be a good idea to have the fretboard fretted? It is not cheap but I am beginning to think that is a sound idea. I could look to trade necks with someone but my chances of finding something this nice are blind luck. So, any ideas? Fret or trade. I would post this on the bass forum but I value the opinions that you folks have. Maybe Ken checks in here. ---Thanks in advance-- Darwin

I would trade. I don't know how much work is involved in fretting an unfretted instrument but I doubt it's a simple job. Plus any cost incurred would ultimately be written off if the bass were to be sold, it would most likely make the instrument worth less than if it were stock.
Just my 2c as they say.

Why not post on Ken's G&L Bass forum as well?
I'm sure you'll get some opinions on the subject there as well.
+1 to SouthpawGuy's response.

Thanks SPG and Craig. I just posed on the Basses forum. I know I will never recover my money but I can't find anything that compares to the one I have for wood grain and neck grain. I do not want a custom build as such. I may consider buying some fret tools and do it myself. -- Darwin

I hear ya,
I've got a minty L-2000 fretless that doesn't get played either,
I've thought about adding frets...but another neck makes much more sense.
I have an old L-1000 neck that needs a heat bend to bring her back.
Is there pics of your fretless here?
(You just might have spurred me to try a neck swap for the evening,
I'll keep you posted)
