Questions About The SC-2
I am trying to determine the sonic differences between the Asat Special and the SC-2. Other than the body wood it appears that the SC-2 has a hotter wound bridge pickup. It would seem that sonically they would be quite similar. Any experience or ideas? Thanks in advance.-- Darwin

Hey, Darwin, here is a review of the SC-2 and you'll find a link on that page to a sound sample of that bridge pickup. You can get a sense of its warmth

could it be, actually, more like an ASAT Super in disguise?

overwound bridge pickup
hope it is of some help

Re: Questions About The SC-2
Leso, I had time to go over your report and the specs on the ASAT Super. It sounds like the pickups would probably be the same as the SC-2. Thanks for the info and I am thinking about this. I have looked at a Fullerton Red which is sweet for me. Thanks for all this info Leso.-- Darwin

measures 6.75k (and the neck pickup measures 5.0k).
Hope this helps.

Re: Questions About The SC-2
Craig, is your SC an older or newer one?
I have an original SC-2 and a similarly-equipped '86 ASAT. The latter sounds more distinctively Tele-like. May well have to do with the body shape and mass (more wood than the SC). I can't actually describe how the SC sounds. It's a lighter guitar and has it's own distinct voice.

Thanks Craig. Looks like the SC-2 has more windings. That may be just what I am looking for. The SC-2 is very light. These are tough decisions as Ginny left today for a 12 day trip to Ireland. She left me to my own vices and I am in charge of the cats. I hope she likes Fullerton Red!!!-- Darwin

Re: Questions About The SC-2
You can buy a lot of guitars in 12 days. But anyway, I can tell you that the bridge pickup in the SC-2 is, in my opinion, pretty hot. It's great in front of a low-power tube amp.darwinohm wrote:Thanks Craig. Looks like the SC-2 has more windings. That may be just what I am looking for. The SC-2 is very light. Of course you meant '... and I am in charge of the cash.' I know, it is a common thing that if you fat finger 'cahs', the spell checker makes it 'cats'darwinohm wrote:Thanks Craig.
