The Legacy 2HB - Questions

Post by willross »

I'm interested in a Legacy 2HB and wanted some user feedback. I dig the one Oates uses in the "Sarah Smile" video...

This Legacy 2HB is kind of hard to hear through the digitech effect

I would agree with Don DePaolas' comment on youtube, the Legacy Special is a better all round choice. It can get single coil tones and those quacky in between sounds, it has a five way switch whereas the 2HB has a three way. The Special can also get some serious distortion tones as well from it's Gotoh humbuckers. Not to dismiss the 2HB, it's a great guitar. That particular one found it's way to Ireland a while back ...

Yeah, versatility. There's a t-burst one I'm looking at hard...

Yeah, my choice would be for the HB tones of the Legacy Special. But I do have a friend who has a "Big Apple" Strat, and he loves it.

Would the Invader XL sound close to the Legacy 2HB?

The major differences would be the Floyd Rose trem, lack
of PTB and wider neck. The Invader body may be a tad
larger - i.e. longer horns - no pickguard). But the pickups
are the same.

According to the 60% pickups, 30% body and 10% neck
rule these should sound similar?

Yes, I would agree that the Legacy Special offers more versatility than the 2HB. The G&L blade pickups have very good clarity and definition for a humbucking style pickup. Whiel the longer scale and bolt on neck gives the 2HB and interesting vibe, the Special is the guitar I would pick to play. http://www.upfrontguitars.com/G-and-L-L ... range.html
