Side - dot position markers

Post by NickHorne »

Does anyone has any info about what current G&L policy is re Asat side - dot fingering position markers?
Ivo's recent thread on Fret Finish contains some images of light - coloured dots in the actual fingerboard, rather than dark dots in the maple of the neck.
I'm getting very close indeed to speccing a custom order; I had no idea that this detail might have changed.
It's a very personal thing, but for myself I'm hoping that "dark - dots - in- the- maple" remains the default Asat spec for necks with rosewood or ebony boards...
Thanks for any advice on this!

If you look at my post in the thread you are referring to, my recent special order with an ebony board has white dots in the side of the ebony, not on the neck itself. I am assuming this is the default as I did not specify.

Here are some recent dots, I guess this is what you can expect with maple:

Or they might have changed it again :D

Thanks, guys.
From Craig's link, seems like they've reverted to larger dots, placed in the maple part of rosewood or ebony-board necks. Phew. Good news! :D

Not sure I understand your perception...judging by the recent examples posted, the side dots are placed in the edge of the FINGERBOARD, not the NECK.

Here is my recent ebony board order from a few months ago.

If I am misunderstanding you...........never mind.
