Neck Pickup on ASAT Classic Custom

Post by marquezal »

I have a 2007 ASAT Classic Custom that needs a neck pickup replaced, does anybody know whether this is just a regular MFD soapbar? The mounting looks different and G&L literature speak to a "special extra jumbo MFD", what's the skinny on this fat neck pickup?

Thanks

It is different from the ASAT Special's neck pickup. See List of Regular Production ASAT-style guitars.
Look for the 2002 version of the ASAT Classic Custom entry. It describes the different about this neck pickup. Also note, the G&L website spec page for this models shows
a picture of the original version of this model with the neck pickup's adjustment screws showing. A year or two later, G&L modified the pickguard with a smaller opening for
the pickup and recessed the pickup so that the three pickup adjustment screws are not accessible. They wanted a "P-90s" look and that's the reason for the change.

The ACC neck pickup is not available from the G&L On-line store. You might contact a G&L dealer and see if they can order you one. You might also consider have the pickup
repaired/rewound/repotted by one of the many available resources, just google pickup repair, pickup rewinding, pickup repotting, if one or more of this things need to be done.

Hope this helps.
