The place to discuss, post photos, video, and audio of the G&L products (US instruments, stomp boxes, etc.) produced after 1991, including the amps & gear we use with them.

Rewinding ASAT classic pickups and remagnetizing

Post by jwebsmall »

HendyGuiters (in the UK?) has this video up on youtube
of an ASAT Classic (1996) with rewound pickups? It sounds
closer to a Fender than a G&L now. They retain some of
that ceramic magnet sound but a lot of the edge is
gone along with most of the bass (unfortunately). When
played with distortion it's lost something in translation
IMO. But modifying the ceramic tonal artifacts is an
intriguing idea. Does anybody do G&L pickup rewinding
state side. Anyone have interesting results? Thanks in
advance!
