S 500 Saddle Lock VS. Tremolo Bar Bridge?
Has anyone done a comparison of an S 500 with the saddle lock fixed bridge vs one with the tremolo bar? I am wondering if the saddle lock fixed bridge will have noticeable better sustain compared to a standard version with the tremolo bar. I may possibly order an S 500 with the fixed bridge if it offers better sustain.

From my recent experience comparing the two, the Saddle Lock definitely has more sustain.

if you're looking for sustain you'll want the hard tail bridge. if you want/need a trem the DF would be your choice.

For added sustain with the tremolo you have the DFS Vibrato as an option, see DF Vibrato System vs. DFS Vibrato System.jonc wrote:if you're looking for sustain you'll want the hard tail bridge. if you want/need a trem the DF would be your choice.
Hope this helps.

Excellent, the DFS system looks like a winner to me.

Yeah, my next guitar is probably going to be a USA S-500 with the DFS. I currently have an S-500 with the Saddle Lock and a Legacy with the DF Vibrato. Both are great. The Saddle Lock has TONS of sustain. The DF Vibrato has a lot of sustain for a vibrato bridge, and of course it's sooo smooth. But the DFS seems like the ticket for someone who wants a little more sustain in an incredibly functional vibrato bridge without going to aftermarket saddles, trem block, etc...Excellent, the DFS system looks like a winner to me.
