As a newbie, please forgive the basic question. What does the Serial Number G051597 tell us? Thanks for the help.

Beyond what is provided in the Serial Number Significance post in the ]i]Knowledgebase[/i] section, not much. Since G&L is notorious for not using S/N sequentially, at least until the introduction of the 'bolt-on' S/N plate in February of this year, it is really hard to date S/N unless one takes a peek in either neck pocket and/or neck heel. All you can be sure of is that was produced before the introduction of the 'CF' (and later 'CLF') S/N's in '97. The only 2 registered instrument with S/N's between G051000 and G052000 with listed neck and/or body dates are from late '96 and early '97.

Hope this helps,

- Jos
