Solid Will Rays?
G&L's seem to only be showing a Hollowbody Will Ray model on their site; surely they haven't stopped making this model in solid??

Re: Solid Will Rays?
Craig,
thank you for this; I'd be most grateful, as a developing new order might be a WR.
I have a silver WR, which is a great friend of a guitar, and I'm now gathering together many thoughts regarding a wide-necked Asat.
Best wishes

Re: Solid Will Rays?
To my knowledge, you may order a WR model with any option offered for the other models. You may opt for a solid or a semihollow. That's my understanding.

Can you order an ASAT or Z3 with just the bridge pickup? (i.e. Esquire configuration).

Re: Solid Will Rays?
AFAIK it is not a standard option. I suggest contacting a G&L dealer and asking if they can custom order for you.jwebsmall wrote:Can you order an ASAT or Z3 with just the bridge pickup? (i.e. Esquire configuration).
Let us know what you find out.
Hope this helps.

A "Hellesquire" with Will's specially gruntytwangy back pup would be great ; but without his endorsement / blessing, it would be in conflict with his signature 3 - pup (which I have, and is the best - built electric, from the best woods, that I've ever had)...

Re: Solid Will Rays?
Hellesquire - I like that!
By the way I talked to the dealer and they are going to talk to the
G&L rep about esquire configurations in general whether the factory
will do it. Otherwise the dealer is just going to order a new pick guard
without the neck (and middle) pickup cut outs and do the rewiring.
I was going to get an RS Electronics esquire conversion kit but the
dealer said they can do the same thing already.
I'm still holding back until I get the neck width issue resolved.
I want to order a 1 11/16" but my playing skill is still novice so
I may wait until I get better. I have a legacy with 1 5/8" nut and
I recently bought a used tribute invader to try the 1 11/16" nut
which I like a lot better. But I may not know enough to appreciate
double stop playing and things like that. BTW I really like the saddle
lock bridge on my invader XL too.
I do like the sound of custom shop esquires and tele's that have been modified
to a single pickup and that is why I'm considering modifying an ASAT and
converting it into a "Hellesquire".
To my ears the single coils are preferable to humbuckers (although I find the
invader XL useful). But I noticed what I perceived to be an extra edge to the
single pu tele as will that seems to be a kind of parallel analogy to the single versus
humbucker. In other words single pu verse 2 or 3 pu's. Using the lever switch to
pull in different tone circuit presets gives some really useful tones from what I could
tell from youtube (not much but it is relative to the other vids).
