Shielding my Legacy..

Post by ctcpete »

Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has shielded their single coil Legacy? I recently did my Strat with the copper shielding tape available from Stew Mac and was happy with the reduced single coil hum. I basically lined the cavities and pickguard with it. The tone and output seem unaffected, if anything the tone seems actually better (kind of vague sorry). I love single coil tone but not the hum that comes with them.

I decided to do the same procedure with my Legacy. The hum has decreased but the output level also seems to have decreased. I'm considering removing the shielding from the Legacy.

Was wondering if any of the G&L experts here have anything on this subject.

Thanks very much.

I did a quick search on the Forum and found this thread: Shielding. :searching: It might be of some help.

Hope this helps.
