Legacy Special v. S-500

Post by desertrat07 »

My next guitar is most likely going to be a Legacy/Strat type, and I am interested in both the Legacy Special and the S-500. I am wondering whether there is anyone who has experience with both who can give me some feedback on these models. I am looking to capture more of a hard rock/jam band sound than my stock Legacy can handle (of course, it's great for other things). So which one wins - the Legacy Special or the S-500 , and why?

Desertrat, I do not have a Legacy Special but have several Legacys. What I can say is that I traded for an S-500 and expected it to be very bright, much more so than the Legacys.I was quite surprised to find that it was not super bright and actually did have a mellow, sweet tone. There are others on the board who have changed the S-500 pickups to Legacy pickups. I happen to like the s-500.-- Darwin

I think for more hard rock kinds of things the Legacy Special wins out. See my post in this thread. I hope this helps.

I'd have to agree with Bill. I have the Special, Legacy and S500 and for hard rock the Special takes the prize.
